Upbeat and surging,

This review is from: Long Division (MP3 Download)
This song starts out establishing a very jaunty bass and drum rhythm over which is added some buoyant guitar harmonics. The vocal soon comes in and I have to admit I am not a huge fan of this singer. He has a bit of a nasally twang that for me can get a bit excessive. But in this song the usual twang is subdued. The chorus is pleasing and intermittently subsides like a bubbling brook to reveal once again the surging bass and drum rhythms. The vocalist does some really great vocal slides that are a lot of fun. Later the guitar starts some ringing chords that give a nice dramatic buildup to the tune. The song fades to a synthesizer note which is cut off, presumably segueing into the next song which I didn't buy. The abbreviated note isn't too noticeable though, it certainly doesn't mar the song enough not to buy it.
