More About the Author

My aim in writing is to make goodness attractive. I love simple human kindness and gentleness, and I am moved by human vulnerability. I am fascinated by the power that is within our grasp to lift one another up, to heal and strengthen and encourage each other - our power to bless.
In the novels I write, I think of the reader sitting down to enjoy a book, the door of their imagination open wide to allow the story in to influence and shape their spirit. I accept the responsibility that confers as a great privilege, and it is my intention that when you put down any book of mine at the end of reading it, you will feel hopeful, peaceful and comforted, more ready to look on your fellow human beings with compassion and see their point of view.
I live in the English town on Hastings, on East Sussex's south coast. I write a blog called Kindred of the Quiet Way.
I would like to encourage you who are reading this to take the trouble to review on Amazon the books you read - as a reader I find customer reviews immensely helpful in making up my mind whether to purchase a book, and as a writer I find readers' reviews so valuable as feedback and food for thought.

5.0 out of 5 stars A stirring look into how we face death and dying, March 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Long Fall (Paperback)
This third book in Wilcock's series about life in a monastary is deeply moving. The story revolves around Father Peregrine and his relationship with Brother Thomas, his aide. It is an incredibly poignant portrayal of the struggle to cope with the degenerating physical and mental capacities of one we love deeply.

Brother Thomas wrestles with God and his own faith as he watches his mentor and friend, once graceful, articulate, and impressive, disintegrate into an embarassing lump of humanity, stripped of dignity.

Wilcock's ability to articulate the spiritual struggles of both men is unmatched, drawing the reader into the heart-wrenching questions we all ponder but are too afraid to face.

This three part series is the BEST fiction I have ever read. It stirred me as deeply as Tozer and Spurgeon, but in the exciting form of a story I couldn't put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Long Fall is a Deep Call, January 8, 2003

This review is from: The Long Fall (Paperback)
This novel is an extraordinary combination of story and theological treasure. Wilock leads the reader through the simplistic yet detailed life of a monastic monk in some time prior to contemporary times. She carefully explains the reasons for ritualistic and demanding life of the monastic community, and the relationships of brothers who all have unique callings in the community. Ms. Wilock offers morsels of tremendous depth woven seamlessly into the story. Her thought and writing of these segments are as sharply focused as C.S. Lewis. The author deals with the difficult subjects of illness, suffering, inescapable death, suicide, and euthenasia... just to name a few! An excellent read, and thought provoking for weeks to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every one should read this!, December 8, 2004
This review is from: The Long Fall (Paperback)
This is a truly amazing book and has had a profound impact on me. The characters are so excellently drawn and the changes are fascinating even when they are painful. It can not help but inspire you to draw closer to Jesus.
