Sweet collection of Dave Mason,

This is a great CD! If you're into great harmonies and melodies, this CD is for you. Very pre CS&N sounding! The pure blend of harmonies, rhythms, melodies, and production make this a super rare collection of hits and obscure/hard to find cuts. Some of the cuts are absolutely live , and that is the only way to hear them! (What a rarity in this day and age...... No overdubs, etc.)This goes to show you how tight Dave Mason's band really was! From Traffic to Mama Cass to Fleetwood Mac, he's been involved/played with the best! Enjoy!!!

Most people know Dave Mason for his one hit song (a pop tune called "We Just Disagree"). However, he's actually a lot more than that. He's also a really good songwriter, and an even better guitar player. The way he wipes up these amazing solos on some of these tracks is beyond incredible. He's really got a talent for melody, thoughtful lyrics, and meaningful guitar playing. An all-around solid musician.

Dave Mason Magic,

Some of the best rock/pop songs ever come from Dave Mason as a soloist or with the likes of Traffic*(*somewhat obscure on many playlists, unfortunately, but an inspired and required must have for song-writers and rock collections). One of the sweetest "break-up" songs ever written is "We Just Disagree". Even though there are a few of my favorite songs missing from rockin' "...Watchtower to the enigmatic "Misty Morning Stranger" , still this cd decently shows Dave Mason's range and immense talent.

THE VERY BEST -- Almost!,

Firstly, somebody somewhere needs to compile a "true" BEST OF Anthology for the superbly talented (and oft "overlooked") DAVE MASON. I realize that there are possibly legal protections which only "restrict" and "hinder" such a worthy compilation - due to the fact that several recording companies might be in conflict to allow the sharing of rights (thanks to our great and fair "Legal System" ... which SUCKS!). Anyway, this CD is a very nice compilation, but what I really HATED was that the final 3 songs (the very BEST tracks that I really wanted more than most) were "dreaded" LIVE versions!!! That of course is my personal preference, because I always prefer UNEDITED STUDIO versions whenever possible. Also, a SECOND DISC could have offered this option -- a few LIVE versions included ... plus including few other hits which could have been added from albums such as LET IT FLOW, SPLIT COCONUT and MARIPOSA DE ORO. Overall, not a bad CD - but the VERY BEST ?? ... well, ALMOST.

I was extolling the beauty and joy of Dave mason's music to a young guitar player a few weeks ago. I suggested he pick up the album with "Let it Flow" and "We just disagree" on it since the songs were so close to the flavor of his playing. I went home and not knowing where my LP copy was, searched online. I saw the "best of..." and liked the compilation. I ordered it for myself. I confess that while there are 19 songs, I really love about 6-7 tracks (#'s 6,11,12,13,17,18 & 19). I prefer to jump to them. To be honest since I do not have an previous emotional connection to the others they are not yet my cup of tea. I can say that being able to hear "Let it Flow" whenever I like, is worth the album! It is amazing even after all these years. It is absolutely a great value and great tunes. Long before we could buy "one song" that's how we got acquainted with music... buy the album, listen to the stuff you like over and over again and then one day you fall in love with one of the obscure tunes on the album and then another and then you went to a concert hoping to hear the obscure ones as much as the hits....

This is a must cd for any Dave Mason fan. And if you are not a fan, you will be after listening. The live cuts with the studio cuts make this collection of hits a winner. Most especially, the live version of "All Along the Watch Tower." Great stuff!!

I've been a great fan of Dave Mason from his early Traffic days.Incedently what a fantastic group the original Traffic were.I already own Dave's " Alone Together " album and am absolutely thrilled to have at last found this one.All the tracks are great with tracks 1,4,8,17,18 & 19 especially blowing me away. A great album from a very underated artist.Long live the likes of Dave Mason,Delaney & Bonnie,Screaming Trees & Cold Blood.
