This review is from: Long May You Run (MP3 Download)
This is my favorite recording of Neil Young's ode to a beloved 1948 Buick Roadmaster. The accoustics are nicely balanced, his voice is clear (well, as clear as it can get, that is ...), and the backing vocals on the chorus are not as romper-roomy as on some other versions. This is just a perfect piece of music, and really shows what a rare and unusually listenable talent Neil Young is.While searching for this, I came across another fine variation by Nils Lofgren on his tribute album "Nils Sings Neil". It is available as a single MP3 download, but for some reason I can't insert the product link for you. But do give this one a try; it is worth it, even if just for historical purposes. |
