This is another great installment of the series! So far this series reads like a single book, even though it consists of four total. I really enjoyed this installment more than the others so far for the mere fact that this installment showed more of Rylie's animalistic side. So far, Rylie's showing some alpha tendencies, willing to fight anyone that comes near her territory. Before this installment, I was starting to think the transition was going a bit too smoothly for Rylie. It showed so much of her human side! I'm very glad that this book evened out the score, showing her animal instinct.

I also enjoyed the addition of silver poisoning. I felt that this was a very interesting ailment that I foresee being important further into the series. I'm definitely looking forward to completing the last book!

Um…okay.

I think the reason why I feel so, BLAH, about this book is because it’s been quite some time since I’ve read Six Moon Summer and All Hallows Moon, the first and second book in the series Seasons of the Moon by S.M Reine. However those books were so amazing, so refreshing, so….so good that truthfully they could leave me speechless! Which is why I was dying to read Long Night Moon, the third in the series.

It started off great! The first few chapters got me hyped and I was so excited to see where S.M was going to take Rylie this time! But as I got deeper into the story, that excitement started to fade and I don’t know, it got kinda cliché a little bit to me. I’m probably wrong but it felt like the common storyline to a lot of young adult books out there, the same formula. But again, that could just be me.

Long Night Moon, for me, lost some of its feistiness it had in the first two. And I feel like Rylie’s character changed so much in this one and not for the better. It’s like she became weaker when she was so tough in the first two books, it was actually really sad to see. I miss the old Rylie!

Overall, I felt like this happened before. Like, it wasn’t as original as the first two books and so I’m disappointed now. I’m actually happy my family didn’t buy this book for me as it was on my birthday/Christmas wish list. It fell flat and I get after a while, some sequels do that. It’s a normal thing but now my expectations for the last and final book in the series, Gray Moon Rising, is low. I’ll eventually get to it but I’m not dying to read it because I’m afraid it’ll turn out not like I want it to.

*shrugs* I just hope some of that feistiness comes back in the next book....

"Seth knew it would be a long day when he found blood in the fields."

A rancher is dead and suspects abound. The townsfolk think it was the result of a coyote attack. Seth knows better, he and his brother, Able, hunted werewolves. It was a family tradition until he met Rylie. She is the love of his teenage life, and a bloodthirsty werewolf. However, this attack was not the result of hunger but madness. Soon they are following a web of leads, from new werewolves in the area, to a Wiccan priest. Rylie's family and friends are caught in the twisted strands, and only one thing is certain--people are going to die.

Long Night Moon is a good book from the young author SM Reine. Her story is steeped with emotion, from the heights of elation, to the gutter of utter despair. The relatable characters in this story are the powerhouse of her book. Wanting to know their fate, SM Reine had me hanging on to the edge of my seat at the end of every chapter. However, it's not only Seth and Rylie that I felt deeply for, but also their relationships with Able, Gwyn, and even the eternally stoned Tate. I won't spoil the end for you, but I can honestly say I didn't expect it. SM Reine is not afraid to break out of the traditional mold, and I think she did a fine job with Long Night Moon.

I give it 4.5 Stars.

Summary: Something is killing people in town and Rylie soon finds that she is not the only werewolf in her small town. Rylie lets Abel lure her into hunting and looking for the cause of these new murders. Are the new people there to help or hurt Rylie?

As with the first two books, book 3 is also a easy read. The story flowed well and built to the ending. You got a few little hints along the way to the plot but nothing until towards the end that was very obvious. This book was the last of the supposed series but I find that is not the case. The current tale of Rylie living on a ranch with her aunt is done, but there is so much left unsaid by the end of this novel. I'm not a fan of cliff hangers and felt book two did a much better job of wrapping up loose endings.

The edit on this one seemed a bit rushed towards the end when I began to see obvious mistakes where the wrong character name appeared but it was nothing that could not be overlooked.

I'd recommend this to the people that liked either of the first two books or like werewolves. I would recommend reading the second or both the second and first books first as I felt there was a lot from the built on them.
