So much more than a "coaching book",

On one level this is a book about swimming. On another level it is a gripping account of the growth of a team through an amazing season. But best of all, it is a philosophy of life sprinkled with hilarious stories. A great read for anyone who aspires to lead, teach, or achieve. (or swim)

Good information, too much filler,

This is the sort of book that makes me wish the author would throw it away, sit down with a good editor, and write quite a different book. That book would omit the author's thoughts on the Renaissance, etc., etc., as well as all personal anecdotes not directly related to swimming, and concentrate on how to coach using TI methods. It would use standard English grammar of a reasonably high standard. It would have an index. All that said, there is very good stuff in here -- it just takes patience, and a lot of skipping, to find it.
