This review is from: Long-Time Listener, First-Time Werewolf (Kitty Norville Series) (Hardcover)
This book contains the first 3 novels in the Kitty series plus one short story. Kitty and the Midnight Hour, Kitty Goes to Washington, Kitty Takes a Holiday and the short story Kitty Meets the Band. Kitty is a dj who was turned into a werewolf while running from a bad date. Her radio show is a place that supernatural beings or "monsters" as they call the werewolves and vampires, can call in with their problems. Pretty much like a Dear Abby show, only funnier. In the first book Kitty tells on the air that she is a werewolf and now her pack leader and the local vampire king wants to kill her. They don't want their secret told to humans. Then someone hires a deranged hit man to come on show while it is airing to kill her. In the second story, Kitty is supposed to meet with the Senate in Washington to tell whether she thinks werewolves and vampires are dangerous. The senate isn't the danger here but the bible thumping senator on hand and some other supernaturals are so Kitty is on the run again. More supernatural beings come into the story in this one (now even Kitty has to believe in more than werewolves and vampires and she had enough trouble believing in them). Kitty is a likeable character, even though in the first book she done a lot of whining, but all new pups whine a lot and she gets more independent and likeable as story goes along. The third book was so enthralling that I couldn't put it down. If you like the Charlene Harris and Kim Harrison books, you will also like this series. Story is set in Denver in the beginning book.

Loved this series and especially loved that I had the first three books in one volume. Kitty is a kickass character that matures and finds that she can be her own woman, er werewolf. If you love werewolf stories don't miss this series. It is action packed and after finishing one book(even at 2 in the morning) you will be glad that you have the next one already in your hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Beginning Stories!, August 16, 2009
This review is from: Long-Time Listener, First-Time Werewolf (Kitty Norville Series) (Hardcover)
What I loved about reading this book is that you had all the three books in one. You also had a couple of short stories that appeared in other anthologies that pertained to the main character. These stories showed her progression from being protected to the point of having no personal freedom to learning how to stand on her own two feet. Unsteady and unsure, but still willing to move forward toward the unknown while helping others to deal with their "afflictions". Showing her weaknesses and showing how she still felt unsure that she overcame anything really showed her strength and made her very "human". I really enjoyed going though her turmoil with her and ending up believing in herself. I really recommend this book (or the first 3, if you get it that way).

First three books were great. I love the whole series. I have them all. Wish they all came in hardcovers. Can't wait for the next one in 2012.
