Book Description

January 21, 2010
Winner of a 2010 Independent Publisher Award for Humor! One part deeply personal memoir and two parts rip-snorting spiritual adventure, Long Time No See is a powerfully moving, occasionally profane, and often hilarious account of one person's single-minded search for enlightenment. Carrie Triffet's true-life journey takes her from reluctant orthodox Jewish beginnings into a devout twenty-year practice of Nichiren Buddhism. Intending to remain a Buddhist for life, she is wholly unprepared when a profound awakening in 2005 unexpectedly changes everything, leading her insistently into a life beyond religion. Join her on this odyssey that begins in the Midwest and travels to sunny Southern California by way of London, Paris, and the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona. Learn the metaphysical lessons offered by a swanky Vegas hotel room, a past life crime scene, and a ferocious lightning storm at 30,000 feet (among many others), as Carrie relays the messages of universal truth that she is given to share with us all.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Long Time No See clearly illuminates the principles of A Course in Miracles as they apply to everyday life. A genuinely helpful and interesting book. Did I mention it's also funny as hell?
--Gary Renard, author of The Disappearance of the Universe

We love this book! Filled with authentic Guidance, Carrie takes us on a fascinating spiritual journey; one that gently leads us away from fear and doubt. This is a 'can't put it down' book that's spiked with joyous and irreverent humor. Carrie demonstrates through her trust in following Spirit, what is possible for all of us, and how life is meant to be lived as a co-creator with God. --Nouk Sanchez and Tomas Vieira, Co-authors of Take Me to Truth; Undoing the Ego

Like 'David Sedaris meets Deepak Chopra' - Long Time No See is funny and irreverent, yet delivers enormously powerful spiritual messages. A real page turner. ----Chris Eann, author, Politico: The Buddhist Manifesto

This is a riveting memoir, brilliant and personal, vibrant with spiritual insight. [Carrie Triffet] is heartbreaking in her transparency and hilarious in her uncanny perspectives... Written with fresh, oddball sensibility, this is soulful self-realization at its finest. ----Sequoia Hamilton, editor-in-chief, Awaken Journal

About the Author

Many years ago I was told I'm an open window between worlds. I didn't know what that meant back then; all I knew was that time and space played tricks on me, glow-in-the-dark ghosts were my nightly companions, and from a young age I seemed to have a very different experience of the world than most of the people I knew. Yet it wasn t until many years later that I began to understand just how different it really was. Then during my years of Buddhist practice, and in a much more turbo-charged way after the 2005 awakening, I began to experience powerful visions, trances and out-of-body experiences as well. The book chronicles each of these, in addition to all of the fascinating conversations with Spirit. Why was I chosen as Spirit's messenger? Beats me. But it s clear I'm uniquely qualified for the job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Messages are delivered in many ways!, January 15, 2010
This review is from: Long Time No See: Diaries of an Unlikely Messenger (Paperback)
I was inspired, comforted and yet amazed at the reminder of how the universe offers us everything we want and need, if we just open ourselves to the possiblities. The way Carrie interprets the messages and the Course of Miracles has left me to believe that the answer is out there, if we just listen. Her writing is informative, fun and VERY entertaining!! A MUST read!

5.0 out of 5 stars A story of spiritual discovery, January 15, 2010
This review is from: Long Time No See: Diaries of an Unlikely Messenger (Paperback)
A highly entertaining true story of spiritual discovery, moving beyond orthodox religion and applying the principles of A Course In Miracles into every day life. It illustrates through the real life events of the author and her direct communication with Spirit, challenging spiritual principles using ordinary language (with the occasional swear word!) in an easy to comprehend way. Told with great humour, it is often surprising, very thought provoking, and I really wanted to know what happened next!

Rather than being a spiritual 'how-to' book from one who has already achieved enlightenment, this is an account of regular person following her spiritual path and I was easily able to identify with many of the feelings and emotions she went through. This was tremendously helpful as I have found many spiritual books to be so far removed from 'my' reality that what they describe can be hard to identify with.

The book also contains The Crash Course, a concise explanation of the main principles of A Course in Miracles, again written in clear every day language. Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Carrie Triffet Hits Home.., January 22, 2010
This review is from: Long Time No See: Diaries of an Unlikely Messenger (Paperback)
I know that personally, I am growing weary of preachy enlightenment books all written by dysfunctional rejects from Guru School whose only true intention is to sell me something I don't need.

So thank goodness for "Long Time No See." Carrie takes a remarkable spiritual journey and shares it in such a way that we don't bow down to the great teacher or even think of her as one.

There's more insight in this book than many of the others out there that promise something real. Carrie makes no promises, she just tells it like it was. And what a delightful, irreverent and deeply meaningful read it is.

Don't miss it.

Kim
