Messages are delivered in many ways!,
By A Believer "Claudia" (Ventura, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Long Time No See: Diaries of an Unlikely Messenger (Paperback)
I was inspired, comforted and yet amazed at the reminder of how the universe offers us everything we want and need, if we just open ourselves to the possiblities. The way Carrie interprets the messages and the Course of Miracles has left me to believe that the answer is out there, if we just listen. Her writing is informative, fun and VERY entertaining!! A MUST read!

A story of spiritual discovery,
This review is from: Long Time No See: Diaries of an Unlikely Messenger (Paperback)
A highly entertaining true story of spiritual discovery, moving beyond orthodox religion and applying the principles of A Course In Miracles into every day life. It illustrates through the real life events of the author and her direct communication with Spirit, challenging spiritual principles using ordinary language (with the occasional swear word!) in an easy to comprehend way. Told with great humour, it is often surprising, very thought provoking, and I really wanted to know what happened next!
Rather than being a spiritual 'how-to' book from one who has already achieved enlightenment, this is an account of regular person following her spiritual path and I was easily able to identify with many of the feelings and emotions she went through. This was tremendously helpful as I have found many spiritual books to be so far removed from 'my' reality that what they describe can be hard to identify with. The book also contains The Crash Course, a concise explanation of the main principles of A Course in Miracles, again written in clear every day language. Recommended!

Carrie Triffet Hits Home..,
This review is from: Long Time No See: Diaries of an Unlikely Messenger (Paperback)
I know that personally, I am growing weary of preachy enlightenment books all written by dysfunctional rejects from Guru School whose only true intention is to sell me something I don't need.
So thank goodness for "Long Time No See." Carrie takes a remarkable spiritual journey and shares it in such a way that we don't bow down to the great teacher or even think of her as one. There's more insight in this book than many of the others out there that promise something real. Carrie makes no promises, she just tells it like it was. And what a delightful, irreverent and deeply meaningful read it is. Don't miss it. Kim

The Essential Undoing,
This review is from: Long Time No See: Diaries of an Unlikely Messenger (Paperback)
Long Time No See gives the reader an intimate look at the process of undoing the separate sense of self we have imagined ourselves to be. This is a step often overlooked by seekers because it's not very pretty. Carrie has shared it honestly and with great humor, both essential qualities to bring to the process. I have been a learner/teacher of A Course in Miracles for over 30 years and I will wholeheartedly recommend Carrie's book to students as a very helpful and entertaining read.

Whilst reading Carrie's book I was taken on a unique journey of intuition, insight, stupendous openness and vulnerability and quirky side-splitting humor. She tells us her story in such a way that gently and powerfully engages the reader, adding layer upon layer of many of our most human and often hidden qualities. I thoroughly recommend this book, it's in my top ten!

If David Sedaris and Gary Renard had a love child, it would be Carrie Triffet. Long Time No See is a revealing and entertaining account of the author's journey out of religion and into direct dialog with Spirit that had me laughing out loud at the sheer insanity of some of her experiences.
Her more personal entries tap a tangible/universal vulnerability and what this offered to me was a way for me to sit along side my own sticky memories and feel less fragile about it all. I like her conversational writing style. I also appreciate that the book is written through shorter journal entries - like David Sedaris' work - bite sized pieces that are easy to read out loud with friends.

"Long Time No See" is a rollicking adventure story. Loved it so much I bought 3 copies--one for my husband, one for me, and one to share. Pairs laugh-out-loud moments with experiences that left me feeling...well, rather jealous, to be honest. But also inspired. A great, fun, accessible introduction to "A Course in Miracles."
