This is one of my all-time favorite albums to listen to while painting, or just relaxing at the end of a long day. I really like the spoken-word lyrics on "Snow Dream" - one of my favorite lyrics on any of the younger Eno's records.

This album was put together by Roger with additions from a lot of his musical friends. He doesn't even play on some tracks. This sometimes makes for a wandering, dragging album, but it also gives the disc a more diverse feel, with all sorts of musical styles being discussed.

Check out the mind-gnawing violin solo on "Empty Habanera" - not since King Crimson and the end of "Talking Drum" have I heard a violin sound like this. Roger's use of acoustic (piano, violin, banjo) instruments combined with treated percussion and synths throughout the album is great. My favorites are "Crossing The Border" (great creshendo) and "The Road To The North". I'd like to hear more heavy-rock power chords played on the reed organ.

The only reason I gave this album such a low rating is that my musical tastes have changed since I bought this album, and it isn't like the stuff I listen to now. But just because I don't like it as much as I used to doesn't mean it's not good. In fact, it could be Roger's best release.

My copy of the CD came with a bonus disc, 17 minutes and four tracks of very diverse material composed by Roger's friends. Everything from Avant-garde pscho electric noise to the voice of Winston Churchill atop a "demo button on the casio keyboard" rythm section.
