You, and all other American citizens, really need to read this book. It is powerful and overwhelmingly tragic. At times, as you look inside this band of child warriors, you might begin thinking of this as a war story. But then you realize that what you are reading is not fiction, and the horror of it grips you all over again.

I'm grateful that Ishmael survived and had the courage to write his story. It is definitely an important work; a well-written glimpse of what is, tragically, a fact of life for child soldiers all over the world.

This has to be one of the best books that I've read in a long time. It really makes you think about war and how it affects us. And how we need to stop children form becoming soldiers.
