A young Dutch soldier, Ian Hall, is captured by Nazis in World War II Holland, where he meets and falls in love with a young nurse. The lovers escape, and spend the duration of the war hiding throughout Europe. Soon after they are married, Ian is drafted into naval service in Indonesia. Striving to find happiness for himself and his family, he struggles with many obstacles in this fast-paced adventure.
