These are your typical cheap spearheads that cannot take much punishment before bending and will also rust on you if you don't keep them clean and dry. The waxwood staff is good quality but the overall weapon feels substandard. Of course the average martial arts weapon you see on the market is substandard so taking that into account you can call this weapon average which is why I rated it 3 stars. It's probably really a 1.5 since it is about as cheap a kung fu spear as you can get. The catch is that to get a decent spear you'll have to shell out at least 5 times this price. If you're not really into weapons, are strapped for cash or have a significant other that is sick of you spending money on more weapons then this is a decent option. I bought the spear as a minimum to learn and practice Jow Ga spear and it has served well for it's purpose.

The tip is a bit loose, and the horsehair was not put on properly and flew off as soon as I started training with it. That said, it serves its purpose as a training weapon, and I can put the horsehair back on if I want to use it as a competition weapon, so I didn't return it.
