5.0 out of 5 stars The Longest Line Review by NOFX on the Web!
The Longest Line introduced the versatile guitar, trumpet, vocal, and lyrical talents of El Hefe - the manic Hispanic. El Hefe replaced Dave Cassilas on lead guitar to round out the NOFX line up (in more ways than one).

El Hefe debuts on this album with the song "Kill All the White Man." It's a very simple and straight forward song about the Mexican...

3.0 out of 5 stars At the end of the longest line
Short and sweet, `The Longest Line' was recorded as an excuse for NOFX to show off their new guitar player El Hefe. Having played in a few other bands, and also appearing in the movie "The Bad News Bears" as a child, El Hefe came to NOFX with a big rep. NOFX meanwhile had been trying in vain to drop any Metal inferences and influences from their sound, and a trumpet...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Longest Line Review by NOFX on the Web!, December 19, 1998

This review is from: Longest Line (Audio CD)
The Longest Line introduced the versatile guitar, trumpet, vocal, and lyrical talents of El Hefe - the manic Hispanic. El Hefe replaced Dave Cassilas on lead guitar to round out the NOFX line up (in more ways than one).

El Hefe debuts on this album with the song "Kill All the White Man." It's a very simple and straight forward song about the Mexican minorities! It's pretty hilarious. More serious tracks are on this CD however, such as Remnants and Death of John Smith.

This is definitely one of NOFX's better albums with the only problem being that it's too short. The reason it is so short is that they were in the middle of making White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean and had just finished Ribbed... they also made it to introduce the talents of El Hefe... they were really stoked to have him join the band.

The sound of this album ranges from the fast and furious sound of Remnants to the slower parts of The Death of John Smith and Kill All the White Man. Additional background vocals on this album come from Joey Cape of Lagwagon (which song, I'm not sure)... definitely worth checking out.

Here's what NOFX has to say on this album:

On Life - "Life's too short to just barely exist" - Remnants

On Love - "Don't be fooled by teardrops, they're worth 1,000 lies" - Stranded

Overall, this is a great disc. And... it's cheaper than the other ones too! Go pick it up and play it over and over again! 100% NOFX at it's best!

Rating:9/10.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best NOFX, even if it's only 5 songs., June 3, 1999

I don't care what anyone says... It's the best album they've done. "The Longest Line" is "The Best Song". They stay true to their roots and are more punk than me.

5.0 out of 5 stars the illustrious El Hefe, October 4, 2005

The Longest Line introduced NOFX's newest member El Hefe. Hefe added great talent to the band with great chops on lead guitar, lead vocals, backing harmonies, and trumpet solos.

This EP contains two songs that could easily fit in any NOFX fan's top ten list: The Death of John Smith and The Longest Line. This EP is a must for any true NOFX fan or anyone in search for a good punk recording. The cover art alone is worth the price.

Furthermore, this EP is the turning point in NOFX's career it is where they developed their characteristic sound that can be found on later full length releases.

Cheers. Enjoy

5.0 out of 5 stars I think they took some lessons, July 19, 2001

Truthfully, if you look at NOFX's work previous to The longest line, you will notice that it is pretty much trashy punk rock. This album is their first to use vocal harmonies (except for on S&M Airlines, but they were helped out by Mr. Brett) and has revolutionized their music writing ever since (thank you El Hefe!). This EP has generated their path towards more melodic/goofy/political punk rock. I advise any punk rocker to purchase this EP, after all, it really isn't that expensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid, July 27, 2000

This is an all around great cd, with four awsome songs that clearly display the talents of the guys of NOFX. "The Death of John Smith", "Stranded", and "Remnants" are all very strong and driving punk rock songs that keep the listener on the edge of his/her seat. The guitar parts are great, I like to describe as a mix of old metal and classic rock, but a lot faster and heavier. Fat Mike's lyrics are very thought provoking and very witty. The only thing I don't really like is the song "kill all the white man," it's kind of funny at first, but I got sick of it very fast. The "Longest Line" is a classic pop-punk song that I couldn't help but love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelent EP, May 1, 2005
A Kid's Review

Yeah, everyone is like "oh man the longest line is the greatest song ever!" however, i personally think that The Death of John Smith is the best song on the record. It is phenominal, lyrically and musically. And the other songs are great, too. If you do not own this record, and are a punk rock fan, then you NEED to buy it.
