The Sundown Of A Career,
By
This review is from: Longhorn Recordings (Audio CD)
The name Bob Wills is synonimous for Western Swing, everybody knows his great recordings from the 1930's to the 1950's, his band included names like Tommy Duncan, Leon McAuliffe, Herb Remington, Eldon Shamblin, Johnny Gimble and many, many others. This CD, another Bear Family beauty, shows the end of a great career. Western Swing was not the big thing in the 1960's, Bob Wills was not the "King" anymore, so he went back and recorded some of his traditional fiddle tunes, mostly accompnaied by a small group, a very personal and intimate experience. This is definitely not an album to dance to, but listen to the music! Great historical meaning!

Like Having Bob In Your Living Room,
This review is from: The Longhorn Recordings (Audio CD)
Musical conversation with a true master. This disc swings, rocks and has fun. But it also reflects on the past and ultimately leaves the listener wanting more...
