Though not easy to find at bookstores (maybe it's a distribution issue), this is by far the best bilingual dictionary Spanish/English in the pocket class. It does give useful examples for word usage, so you won't be lost. Please don't be confused by the target group (Latin American students) as the Spanish used is standard for the most part. So it's a great pocket bilingual dictionary for English and Spanish speakers alike, the type you can carry in your backpack or suitcase.
I also highly recommend Longman learner's dictionaries, that is monolingual English dictionaries designed to meet the needs of non-native English speakers. The American or the American Advanced are awesome.
For a large, desk bilingual English-Spannish dictionary, Oxford continues to be the best

A friend, looking for the same book or something comparable elsewhere, was pleased to see this book at a lower price here at Amazon. As I am not the recipient, I cannot add anything about the book itself, but this English-Spanish dictionary was specifically requested as the best one, in her opinion.
