Good for me but...., April 4, 2003
This review is from: Longman Dictionary of English Language and Culture, Third Edition (Paperback)
English - English dictionary is useful for English leaners.
(especially don't use English)
I bought it last year because one of my friends recommended it.
I wanted to buy "Cambridge" dictionary but he said that
the words of in "Cambridge" is difficult.
So if I want to find some words, I have to find another words.
The words of "longman dictionary" consist of 2,000words.
So you don't have to find another words.
And I can see some cultural and social background of America.
(Even famous actor, singer).
In p.785~804, I could know about 'Colours and their Associations',
'American life of each decades', 'Education', 'Festivals and Special Days',
'Government', 'Holidays', 'Law', 'Pubs', 'Shakespear's Plays',
'Wedding'
It is useful for me but for advanced leaners,
it may not so good because explanation of word is not specific.^^

One of the best dictionaries available, May 4, 2006
The Longman Dictionary of English Language and Culture is one of the best dictionaries I have seen in decades. As a teacher it has provided me with the ability to encourage my students to use a dictionary, where they disliked the Oxford Dictionary as it was considered difficult to use. This dictionary is easy to use, has modern information on culture, actors, sportsmen and the occassional graphical representation. A must have for any student (and teacher).

Superb dictionary for Everyone, July 4, 2010
This review is from: Longman Dictionary of English Language and Culture, Third Edition (Paperback)
This is a ground-breaking addition to the Longman collection of reference works. While ostensibly aimed at Learners of English as a Foreign Language, owing to its copious sentence examples showing proper usage, this volume is well-suited for all American junior and senior high school students. Its extensive cultural entries place it a notch above Webster's Learners Dictionary, which also is a superb reference for the entire family.
