If you want a real trail guide, Paul Nesbit's Longs Peak its story and a climbing Guide is the book you need. It is compact and easy to take along, has all the trails and some fun narrative to read when you stop for lunch. I live in Colorado and I recommend this guide for trail hikers as well as climbers. You will learn important rules of high altitude trekking that are helpful wherever you go in this beautiful state.

This guide has been very helpful as a preview of what we can see and have also used it to plan our trip. We refer to it often and will be taking it with us when we travel.

Longs Peak: Its Story and a Climbing Guide

Nesbit is well qualified by many many years of writing about Colorado's Mountains and particularly Rocky Mountain National Park. A fun read.
