5.0 out of 5 stars This book belongs in your pack!, August 29, 2009
This review is from: Longs Peak: Its Story and a Climbing Guide (Paperback)
If you want a real trail guide, Paul Nesbit's Longs Peak its story and a climbing Guide is the book you need. It is compact and easy to take along, has all the trails and some fun narrative to read when you stop for lunch. I live in Colorado and I recommend this guide for trail hikers as well as climbers. You will learn important rules of high altitude trekking that are helpful wherever you go in this beautiful state.

This guide has been very helpful as a preview of what we can see and have also used it to plan our trip. We refer to it often and will be taking it with us when we travel.

Longs Peak: Its Story and a Climbing Guide

Nesbit is well qualified by many many years of writing about Colorado's Mountains and particularly Rocky Mountain National Park. A fun read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharp Cover Invites Content Inspection, July 9, 2006
This review is from: Longs Peak: Its Story and a Climbing Guide (Paperback)
Years ago, a personal care product advertised that "you never get a second chance to make a first impression." Without a doubt, this applies also to book design. A well-designed cover can make or break a book when it comes to that all-important "first impression." I am attracted to covers that catch my eye, rivet my attention, and pull me into the content. The crisp, appealing cover of Longs Peak does exactly that. An additional perk is the topographical map on the back, which adds both interest and contrast. Why is this important? I'm not a climber. But I love the majesty of the peaks and the challenge of their presence. As a non-climber, however, I need to be enticed into opening--and perhaps purchasing--a book that focuses on a sport in which I do not engage. On the other hand, I relish the history and the rugged beauty of Colorado's magnificent peaks. Many thanks to the designer who invited me to explore Paul Nesbit's extraordinary world of Longs Peak.
