I enjoyed reading the continuing story of the Kendall family during the aftermath of the war between the states. The courage that is shown by these intrepid southerners is a remarkable thing to see. This was a very good book, and I recommend the two highly.

I read both these books a couple times in my teens (1980's) and still think of the stories from time to time. Good read for a rainy/snowy weekend. They helped create a bonded family vision of the South.

Is it a soap opera? Yes, but a good soap opera. Flat characters? Yes, but easily identifiable characters that are uniformly interesting.

Perhaps the best thing about this trilogy is that it is written in a straightforward manner that can be understood by a fifth grader.

Very well written historical novel. Characters jump from the page. This book is part of a 3 book trilogy. Very enjoyable reads.

I'm a devotee of all of Lonnie Coleman's works, esp. the "Beulah Land" series. Beautifully written and historically accurate, BL sweeps you away to another time.

I enjoyed this book - it picked up some of the story line from the previous book, and enlarged upon the entire story! Very good condition, better than what was listed. I'd use this seller again.
