Product Description

Look's Keo Grip Cleats function the same as the older Keo cleats once they're engaged in a Look Keo or Keo 2 pedal. It's what they do the rest of the time that is so different. Look has done a great job at re-imagining their cleat, seeing what others have done, seeing what they could do better, and executing that vision. The two things everyone will point to are the non-skid rubber pads underneath the "toe" and "heel" portions of the cleats. While those pads are pretty nice, and they do a good job of making walking easier and adding durability to the cleats. It's the center pad and what's underneath it that we're excited about. The center pad is no big deal on its own; it sits atop the center of the pedal and should reduce lateral slop on the cleat/pedal interface. It is the memory clip underneath that we groove on. The memory clip makes it easy to replace cleats. This clip sits hidden underneath the cleat but it is locked into place in that fourth groove that many new shoes come with. You can find it on at least the following shoes: Bontrager, Sidi, high end Cannondale, and carbon soled Chain, Diadora, DMT, Gaerne, Northwave shoes. There are three float options for the cleats, fixed aka zero float (Black) cleats, 4. 5-degrees float (Grey) cleats, and 9-degrees of float (Red) cleats. Look pedals come standard with the Grey cleats. All three cleats come with 4mm of lateral adjustment and 9mm of longitudinal adjustment. The Keo Grip Cleat replacement kit comes with two cleats, six 5x11mm screws, and six rectangular washers. The memory clip is in the cleat. The claimed weight on a pair of Look Keo Grip Cleats is 68g including screws and washers.

Customer Reviews

In short: Look's KEO Grip cleats are perfect brevet cleats.

These cleats make it significantly easier to walk without covers and are helpful when you miss entry (you can still keep your grip on the pedal without slipping off).

They were always trouble to clip into, but easy to clip out of.

Total waste of money, I don't know if these are a second generation, because the first generation I bought around 2009-2010 were quite okay. Here is what I mean after about one use the rubber fell apart, and the bad thing is the material on the plastic resin part is not the same quality as the regular non grip ones, the plastic material on this grip ones are soft. This grip cleat almost put me in danger I could hardly unclip because the rubber came off and the plastic part was mashed in and it became hard to unclip. So now I am back with the non-grip bi-material, never again on this grip ones until Look improves it in it's 3rd generation perhaps.

My bike salesman talked me into trying these when I bought a new bike. They fell apart within weeks so he got me another pair under warranty. The second pair lasted about two months. They were always trouble to clip into, but easy to clip out of.

Stay away from these

I'm currently using Look's KEO Classic pedals on my road bike, and I bought a set of these cleats thinking they'd come in handy at lunch stops, store stops, and controles on brevets and other long one-day rides (for overnight tours, I use my 'cross/gravel/touring bike, on which I keep mountain-bike style clipless touring pedals).

It turns out that they also come in really handy when you leave home without a spare tube or patch kit, intending to buy a tube on the way out, forget to buy the tube, flat 14 miles into your ride, and then have to walk through a grocery store to the nearest ATM and an additional mile to the nearest bus stop with a printed schedule available (um ... not that this has ever happened to me, of course ... heh).

While true weight weenies might want a lighter cleat for racing, Look's Grip Cleats offer a great balance between weight and functionality. Clipping in and out is a breeze (no more difficult than with plain KEO cleats), and when you find yourself forced to walk on a slick surface in your team kit, you don't suddenly feel like you're in an underfunded production of "Superheroes on Ice" (though, I will own, one does still look and sound pretty ridiculous clopping through a supermarket in road bike shoes).

It's worth noting that there *is* a lot of float in these cleats. That's great for someone like me -- I broke my left tibia a couple years back it healed just a bit out of alignment, which can make adjusting bike cleats very difficult -- but might not be everyone's cup of tea.

One last thing: I got a set of Kool Kovers to go with these (stupidly hoping to preserve the grippy areas!), but it turns out that the height added to the cleats by the rubber grippy sections means they don't stay on very well.

I've been using the same pair of Look Keo Sprints with the bi-material (non-grip) cleats for 8 years and they've worked wonderfully. This is the first time I've tried the "grip" cleats. These cleats make it significantly easier to walk without covers and are helpful when you miss entry (you can still keep your grip on the pedal without slipping off).

However, I'm giving them one star because after only about 300 miles both pedals have developed a excessive amount of play, creaking, clicking and squeaking in the cleat/pedal interface that no amount of adjustment seems to be able to solve (lubricant solved the squeaking). Web searches seem to reveal others that have had similar problems. It's a shame, but I just had to buy a new set of bi-material cleats and will be tossing these cleats.I definitely could not recommend.

These cleats are wonderful. Easy to install and adjust. They are so much better to clip in and out of than SPD's.

These work fantastic, not much more to say than that. Very practical and was able to use with my Louis Garneau cycling shoes. Great buy.

These are the way to go. Pay a little extra and get ones with the rubber gripping. It does not seem like it would change a lot but you can easily walk around on slick surfaces like a garage or cafe floor without sliding all over the place.
