This review is from: The Look: Does God Really Care What I Wear? (Paperback)
The Korah rebellion in Moses' day began right after the Lord told His people they must begin wearing tassles to remind them to be holy (to help protect them from suffering as they had previously). How to dress is considered a non-issue by many today, or, if mentioned, brings forth the same "Who do you think YOU are?" response as Korah and his followers. But Psalm 119:4 is still part of the Bible, not to mention 1 Timothy 2 and 1 Peter 3.
Our home church newsletter contained this review of The Look, along with DeMoss' companion CD series entitled Modesty, written by a 14 year old girl: This set challenged us and provided new insight. Nancy uses Biblical and practical principles to answer tough questions like, "What does my clothing communicate?" and "Does modesty mean dressing in an outdated, dumpy, and unattractive way?" She reminds us that we are citizens of another kingdom, bought with the blood of Christ. "What we wear and how we look is a picture of what we believe." Nancy emphasizes that God's biggest concern is not about our clothing, but about our relationship with Him. Are we seeking to honor Jesus in everything? Our goal, as Christian women, should be to think, act, and dress to please God and reflect His glory. Because of such a review from a teenager, I plan to buy this book for my own growing daughters, as they face the pressures of the world and the skimpy choices at clothing racks. Who knows? Good thinking about this topic may help raise up some Christian fashion designers to help us all in this area. This book should help us take our thoughts about dress captive to the obedience of Christ, who cares for us so much.

Fantastic Book by a Strong Christian Woman,
This review is from: The Look: Does God Really Care What I Wear? (Paperback)
This booklet, is a wonderful balance of Bible verses, questions, common sense and wisdom. Nancy asks questions such as, "where does this top draw attention to?" I found that really helful in my own freeig journey to Biblical modesty. I also enjoyed Nancy's straight forward approach, you can tell she prayed and read the Bible and sought wise counsel when writing this book. Enjoy discussing this in a Girl's Bible study or on your own.

This is a great book for students, parents and teachers. It challenges us to look at the way we dress. It helps us to examine our heart attitude. It will help unify the family and create in us the desire to please others for the right reasons.

This book opened my eyes by revealing the true purpose of clothing and it taught me how a Christian woman (that is, a woman who has a relationship with Jesus Christ) is supposed to select her wardrobe. It may be a short book, but it was most powerful, in my opinion.

This is a wonderful, simple book written on this very important topic. I can see why Nancy's book has become frequently quoted in many other books and articles written about Christian modesty.
I appreciated the easy-to-read format, and recommend it for EVERY Christian lady. God does care what you wear, and Nancy will guide you through Scripture to show you how it applies to us today. |
