5.0 out of 5 stars Best reference book on the subject!, June 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Look for the Dog: Illustrated Guide to Victor Talking Machines (Paperback)
This is by far the best reference book on the topic of Victor Talking Machines and related items. It details the history of the Victor Co. and it's owner,Eldridge Johnson, from it's founding in 1901 until it merged with RCA 1929. The information and illustrations included in this volume have been painstakingly researched and are invaluable to the experienced and beginning collector alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Need to know what model your Victor or Victrola is?, January 31, 2003

This review is from: Look for the Dog: Illustrated Guide to Victor Talking Machines (Paperback)
I found this book most helpful for those wanting to correctly identify outside horn Victors. Victrolas pre-1925 are also listed. Personally, I found the most interesting and informative material to be from "The Orthophonic Era" chapter. It was VERY gratifying to FINALLY be able to correctly identify the Victor phonographs in my personal collection! They've ALL taken on a new (and correct!) identity after reading, and re-reading this book. We of the phonograph collecting realm are indebted to the author, Robert W. Baumbach, for his defining research of Victor Talking Machines. THANK YOU!
