Robbi is a young rhino who lives in an African game park. He can't wait to have a horn as beautiful as his Mama's. He gets teased for being clumsy. When he sets out to save his friends from the terrible Nosserus, he learns a lesson in self-esteem. Filled with beautiful paintings of a number of African animals, including rhinos, giraffes, and zebras.

We like the way this story deals with the fears and exaggerations of childhood. It helps children to realize they too are sometimes afraid of things that are not real. We also think the artist, Rachel Bass, does a marvelous job of bringing those fears to life with her vivid and finally funny paintings of the purely imaginary nosserus.

Robby the rhino's identity problem is lots of fun for kids. Also, the art in this book is spectacular. Look for the wonderful pictures of the imaginary nosserus.
