For fans of Claudine and those turned on by French speakers!,

Claudine Longet to me epitomized the paradox of sensuality and innocence, both at the same time. Her French accent combined with her ultra-clean cut girl-next-door looks ran a close second to my all time favorite 60's girl singer, Dusty Springfield. The difference was that Dusty could belt out a song while Claudine was barely able to whisper it. Therein lies her charm. This particular album has a LOT of cover versions, reflecting the "hits" of the times as well as styles prevalent at the time. Her cover of "The Look Of Love" unlike Dusty Springfield's sensual version and the Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 version was "cute" rather than sexy. But still very pleasant to listen to. I played it during my all-nite FM show at the time. The Samba-styled tracks "How Insensitive" and "Manha De Carnival" are favorites and a good choice of material. Her Lennon/McCartney covers of "Good Day Sunshine" and "When I'm 64&! ! quot; are appropriate for her little girl voice... while the standards "I Love How You Love Me" and "The End Of The World" are done in a style that can be called "adequate" but not particularly emotionally charged. The remaining tracks include "Man In A Raincoat", a darker sounding song than I'd have thought, and "Think Of Rain" which is actually very cute and a good choice of material for Claudine's voice. Another "weather" song, "Creators of Rain" rounds out the album and again, lends itself to her voice adequately. Claudine will never be accused of being a great singer, or interpreter of lyric. However, I like her voice, and find it soothing and with light material such as this, I am enticed to forget remastering my vinyl copy and just purchase the Japanese CD which has already been remastered for cd release. I just wish that A&M Records (US) would release her catalog but perhaps they no longer have t! ! he rights to the album. I can't recommend this album to eve! ryone BUT to her legions of fans this is a welcome treat and a long-awaited one at that. Now hopefully the remaining albums will find their way onto cd as well.

I was first introduced to Claudine when I saw her in the movie The Party with Peter Sellers. Ever since then I have loved her music. She has one of the most sweet sounding, soothing and sexy voices around.

For my money, the best of Claudine Longet's original albums. Great song selection, arrangements, and performances. Essential for Claudine fans.

No, she wasn't highly successful with her albums, her singles never peaked high on the charts, but Claudine Longet was a class act nevertheless, oozing French luxuriance but never decadence, she was the All-American French-girl-next-door. Her singing, highly imbued with her accent, is lilting, purring, often coy. The material she was given wasn't bad. Yet the production is first-rate, with high-quality session players supporting her. "Think of Rain", "Man in a Raincoat" and "Creators of Rain" turns out to be an intense trilogy, alternately sung brightly and with melancholy. The Beatles tunes aren't particularly gripping, but they do swing, and Claudine's version of "The Look of Love" is one of the best. She couldn't do a bad record, such is her grasp of our culture and the notion of romance. Turn down the lights, light the candles and fire up Claudine!

Ms. Longet's most consistent music, where songs, arrangements and production (Thank you, Nick De Caro and Tommy LiPuma, respectively) form a seamless sonic journey. Many thanks to Bruce Botnick's clear, clean and spacious engineering. Choosing material from Burt Bacharach, Hal David, Lennon-McCartney, the master himself-Antonio Carlos Jobim, among others, Ms. Longet exudes confidence (The Look of Love)and good humor (When I'm Sixty Four) surrounded by Nick De Caro's sensitive and complementary arrangements. A truly underrated classic album.

Claudine Longet's most consistent album and an under-appreciated pop classic. Great sound, no liner notes (unless you count the Japanese lyric sheet). Worth the price.
