AN ESSENTIAL CD FOR FANS OF ELECTRONIC-DANCE & POP!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Look No Further (Audio CD)
This is not at all radio friendly dance-pop. This album is club music similar to her first album. On "Look No Further" the mid and up tempo tracks have a bit more of a bounce than her first album. Good examples of this are tracks like "This Time I Found Love", "You Never Love the Same Way Twice", "I Love Music", and "Free The Love". There are also soulful songs like "Baby". On this album Rozalla is more focused vocally and it shows thourghout the album. She also co-writes some of the songs. If you like Amber, Cathy Dennis, Ce Ce Peniston, Crystal Waters, Ultra Nate, Alexia, Robin S., Kristine W.,etc., you will love this album. Also go to her website ...for more information on this fabulous dance artist.

DON'T YOU LOOK NO MORE,
A Kid's Review

The bouncy bass line of the tracks make this album dance-pop. There are still heavy clubland dance tracks here, it has just been reduced some in order to make room for tracks that are R&B/Soul and Pop influenced. A satisfying second effort that helps open Rozalla to more music listeners. Rating B.

Rozalla changes her style,
By A Customer
This review is from: Look No Further (Audio CD)
Back in the early nineties Rozalla was dubbed "The Queen Of Rave". She enjoyed massive success with excellent dance recordings, e.g. "Are You Ready To Fly", and was well on her way to stay a perminent factor on the charts. In 1995 Rozalla seems to do everything to get rid off that title of "Rave Queen". Her second album, released on Epic, features a whole new variety of styles: dance, pure pop, some soul... you can get everything from the African songstress. "Look No Further" is therefore THE perfect album for the allround music lover because it has something there for everyone. However, it might have been an idea to try and make up something herself as well because Rozalla (or her producers?) certainly take the easiest way because the album is packed with cover versions. There's nothing wrong with her feel good versions of "I Love Music" and "You Never Love The Same Way Twice" or her soulful version of "Baby" but once she puts a dance beat under REM'S "Losing My Religion" the lady takes it one step too far. Luckily there are also some original songs. "Do You Believe" is a splendid pop song and dance favorites include the thrilling "This Time I Found Love" and "Free The Love". Rozalla is gifted with a beautiful voice and can really handle all sorts of music which shows in the smooth ballads. "Look No Further" might not be too original but it's good anyway. But Rozalla has lost her sound because all these songs could have been recorded by any other female songstress.

Athough Rozalla predominantly worked with the same music produces as she did with her debut album, they helped Rozalla's sound evolve. At first, one may feel slighted because this album is not what her debut is. "Look No Further" expands on her soulful House music with strong personality vocal appoarch. The album touches and goes into Contemporary R&B, Soul, Dance-pop and more mainstream side of House. The title track is an emotive, soulful Pop ballad. The songs "I Can't Wait", and especially "Baby", "If Love Is A Dream" show her ability to Contemporary R&B with a little Hip-Hop edge well. These are have solid grooves and rhythms. The piano intro to "If Love Is A Dream" is a nice touch. "Do You Believe" is an enjoyable slice of soulful Pop. The most danceable songs on the album are "Free The Love", "Work Me" and "This Time I Found Love", "I Love Music", and "You Never Love The Same Way Twice." The latter three songs became hit singles. The cover of R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion" is pleasant enough but ultimitely the only disappointment on an otherwise solid set of songs. One of her rare songs "Love Work" which was on the UK pressing of "Look No Further" would have been a superior choice track to be included here. The albums only slow song is the song "All That I Need" which is a pleasant surprise. It is an excellent Smooth Soul song that could easily be played during a Quiet Storm radio program. It is easily one of best song. Overall, "Look No Further" was clearly meant to help Rozalla transition from Dance Diva to a musical vocal Diva, period. The intented results were not realized at the time. However, "Look No Further" allows the listener to think of Rozalla has a serious, professional musician which she is. She continues deeper into Adult Contemporary, Soul, Rhythm and Blues, and Jazz with her fourth album "Brand New Version" released in February 2009.

A beautiful and talented woman, Rozalla (born Rozalla Miller on 3-18-64 in the African nation of Zambia), is a CeCe Peniston-ish neo-disco diva who can also tone herself down for some good soul, too. The pumping, energetic "Work Me" is 90s dance at it's finest, and the slower, poppish "Do You Believe" is a fresh, bright-sounding pop-soul gem.

If you are lokking for a magnificent diva album, then "Look No Further" is it. There are a range of sounds from Soul to House music on par with artists like Amber. Some of my favorites are "This Time I Found Love", "Work Me", "Look No Further", & "Free the Love" among others. Another lovely album from Rozalla...
