Upon listening to this debut album by Poison, I was beginning to think the only things in life that really mattered were girls, sexily puffed up hair, screeching, sometimes spacy guitars, and the right shade of eyeshadow, all backed up by a never-ending summer.
Listening to this created in me mental vignettes of long-haired people at a beach, playing volleyball, while the barbeque sits on the tailgate of their truck in the parking lot, being watched over by more long-haired people, and all the women are, of course, in bikinis. Some are haughty to coincide with their leanness while others are crying tough due to some breakup. Who says it's not okay to be a 38-year old still feeling the thunder when Betty just won't say 'yes' (and when she does, it's time to brag). Visual mental results aside, this music is dated in such an enjoyable way as it makes me wish I wasn't 8 years old when it came out; I listen to this and can't stop wishing the modern age was a little more fun. Even though this music, with all its campiness and station wagon charm, isn't a royal form of rock, it is so much more lively and funny and emotional (in such an 11th grade way) than the prone-to-spirit-less stuff the music managers and producers allow to be realeased today. When Poison sings about how much they like it when girls talk dirty to them, there's something of the intrigue of the romance novel, and combine that with this lightened form of heavy metal and all the hair, and you've got yourself a memory of a different time that seems more intersting than the one we're in now.

GIVE ME A BREAK!!!,

Ok, so it was popular in the '80's, but let's get real, there is ZERO musical quality. These guys were aimed towards the teenage girls and wimpy guys. If you're into that kind of stuff, then get it. But forget about hearing any interesting music.

I have always been a Poison fan, so i was looking forward to getting a remastered vers of LWTCDI.....Nowhere does it say remastered nor does it sound remastered. The album itself is still great, if you don't have if, def buy it at this low price....either Amazon sent me the old copy or total misrepresented this cd "reissue" as remastered....heads up people!

What's left to say that hasn't already been said about Poison? This is one of the greatest albums of the 20th century. Buy It if for some reason you don't own it.

Dynamic party album,
By Preston (nc) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Look What the Cat Dragged in (Audio CD)
While I liked their second album better, Poison's first album from 1986 was a very fun and exciting party album of rock and roll! They have the guitars loaded to excess on all the songs. Talk Dirty to Me is still a catchy, charged up song as well as I Want Action, Let's Go to the Show, the title song and others. But Poison slows it down a bit on the nice and melodic midtempo power ballad I Won't Forget You. Bret Michaels is an energetic showman and lead singer on a lot of the cuts but the true standout is the always humorous C.C. Deville, as his guitar leads and solos give a strong intensity to them. Poison does go a little overboard with the makeup and glam look on the album cover and photos, but their image paired well with the songs and live performances. One of the best arena rock albums of the latter half of the '80s.

The last antidote of rock n'roll!,

When I first saw the video "Talk Dirty to Me" it was like a revelation. Wow, these guys came from another planet! They were cool, they looked cool, they acted cool! The lyrics were cool! That was it! The last antidote of rock n'roll!
"Look what the cat dragged in" is awesome; "I want action" is energizing; "Talk dirty to me" is a true metal classic; and "I want forget you baby" is a really good balad. Plus, there is no stupid filler songs inside this album! And C.C. DeVille is a tremendous guitar player! This album is pure energy! This album is a God-gift to us! Go and buy this classic!

Poison's Debut,
By Laura (Ontario) - See all my reviews

When this album was released in 1986, I was only 1 year of age but now that I'm older and broadening my musical tastes, I've stumbled upon Poison, the only hair metal band I ever found tasteful. This album is now a classic, even though glam rock has died, it is not forgotten and Poison are still out there performing the hits from their debut album. An excellent album, the perfect glam rock album, ever. Track Listings / In all, this is a great album that sums up glam rock pretty well, a must for any 80s fan.

This album , band , heck the whole genre was a joke . The same type of song played 12 times over gets soooo old real fast . The riffs and beats are just plain goofy and the cheesy lyrics , The vocals aren't bad though but who cares this is just stupid it's allright at a party I suppouse but as far as real rock goes this don't cut it . You want real good rock from the 80's look into - Guns N Roses , Iron Maiden , Van Halen , Metallica or Anthrax and AC/DC . Skip this pile of cheese .

AWESOME!!!!,

In 1986, the infamous hair metal movement started to catch on. This album is a major reason why. The songs are a little bit la-dee-da, but they are still some of the best songs ever. No one was more glam than Poison. Many metal fans said this was stupid and annoying, how they looked identical to women, but I think it's funny. All the band members are talented, and Bret Micheals' songwriting is good. Poison is one of those bands that often falls into the 'love 'em or hate 'em category. For example, many metalheads in 1986 HATED this band, along with Ratt, Motley Crue, etc. But mostly everybosy LOVED them. This album was a Top Ten hit, so a lotta people must have loved it. And I can see why.
