Kindermusik kids LOVE this book!,
By
This review is from: Look Who's Talking! On the Farm (Hardcover)
This book is always a hit with the toddlers, babies, and preschoolers in my Kindermusik classes. Even children who normally have trouble focusing during Story Time tend to be engaged by the brightly colored pictures and, of course, the book's gimmick - a flap on each page in which the reader "becomes" the animal by sticking his/her lips in the hole in the page and making the animal sounds! Great for babies' vocal development (imitating animal sounds engages the muscles they need to produce different sounds) and visual development (the bright colors draw their focus); wonderful for toddlers' language development (imitating animal sounds, identifying animals and other objects in each picture), and preschoolers' sense of humor (watching the lips flap, and responding to the little pig's "joke" at the end of the book). I get many requests for this book during Story Time every semester. Highly recommended (especially for Kindermusik teachers)!

Fun for parents and kids,
This review is from: Look Who's Talking! On the Farm (Hardcover)
It sounded kind of silly but we'd heard raves about this book series from one of our friends with a 2 year old so we ordered this one from Amazon. It is a well made (i.e. tough enough for tiny tots' hands) handsome little book. The story is simple enough, but the hook is that when you get to the part where each animal makes its sound, the page has a big hole where the animal's mouth is. You pick up the book, push it against your lips and make the animal sound from the other side, pushing your lips through hole in the page. Our 3 year old son let out a huge peal of laughter to the first, and it kept his interest until the end. Then he demanded to hold the book and make the animal sounds. We're all getting better at the animal sounds and I can do a pretty mean cow now, if I do say so myself.
Highly recommended. Fun for all three of us.

This is my 2 year old's all time favorite book as well a fav to my 3 & 5 year old. He starts laughing as soon as we pull it out to read. It's a very simple story and you open the flap to put your lips in the opening (to the child it looks like the animal has moving lips) and make the animal sound. My kids crack up laughing everytime, and the book never gets old.
My 2 year old also has speech delays. His therapist LOVES this book. It is great for having the kids watch the lips to make sounds and he loves to immitate what we do. |
