Neat Little Mystery,
By Wilmarie (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lookalike [VHS] (VHS Tape)
"The Lookalike" is one of those neat little mysteries that keep you guessing until the very end - and that's a difficult achievement in this day of so many movies with almost every plot imaginable having been seen.Melissa Gilbert, as always, gives an under-stated performance that makes a viewer be on her character's side and want her to solve the mystery. Even though this is a mystery, and not horror, it does have some eerie moments, and is well worth the watching.

What would I do?,

I love this movie! A woman who's putting her life together thinks she sees her daughter in the mall where she works, but the little girl supposedly died a year ago. Is she crazy? Is her little girl alive? This movie has twists and turns and you'll want to watch it again!

Hokey yet fun,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lookalike [VHS] (VHS Tape)
"The Lookalike" is very much an early '90s made for TV movie. The ending couldn't be more obvious...but as the film makes it way towards said ending, it takes viewers on a fairly enjoyable ride.Gina is a young, unstable mother who recently lost her daughter in a car wreck. She is staying with her parents and attending counseling to try and get over the loss. After she gets a new job at the mall, she begins seeing a little girl who looks JUST LIKE her dead daughter. From there, the mystery takes off. And on top of that, Gina begins to have strange dreams, which may or may not have to do with memories tying into the death of her little girl. Not helping matters is the fact that her boss, a dashing yet mysterious Greek American, puts the idea into her head that she is really seeing a "doppelganger"...and if she gets too close, she'll be obiterated and her "double" will walk away. The ending is anti-climatic and viewers will probably figure it out halfway through, but the suspense is fairly thick and the acting is pretty good.
