When Mama Elephant, Flora, phones six mice to ask if they can look after her "little" Ellie, the mice say yes: "After all, you have to help your friends." Fanciful, clean-cut illustrations humorously display the conundrum the tiny mice face as they care for Ellie. Propelling her stroller uphill to the park is no small task. Pushing her on the swing requires real team effort. This short, sweet story should appeal to young children's sense of proportion-and sense of humor.

I bought this book simply because my little girl's name is Ellie. The story is kind of a clunker, and there is an actual picture (not drawing) of elephant feces on one of the pages. Yeah. My daughter thinks it's hysterical though, so I guess that's what the author was trying to go for.

This was one of those books I first checked out from the library and then ended up having to purchase because my toddler was always asking for "Ellie! Ellie!" The story is simple, short and perfect for her 1.5 year old attention span. The pictures are funny and really quite adorable. I don't mind my daughter's requests to read it to her over and over again, unlike some of her other books!

My granddaughter, Ellie, loves these books! She was so happy to get it for her birthday.
