This album hits ALL the right spots in body and soul!I can't wait to see them live--I think that they're coming out to the northwest part of the Left Coast in February. Bless this band for reaffirming that good music is still being made!!!!!

I second that five star review!,

Previous album(s)by SS are a little spotty but this one is "spot on" - great old timey gal harmonies mixed with contemporary lyrics, arrangements and tempos. Yes, and due credit to the album producers for the recordings and choices of songs. The cover of Dwight Yoakam's "It Won't Hurt When I Fall Off This Barstool" is outstanding.

Twangs in all the right places,
This review is from: Looking For A Fight (MP3 Download)
"Looking for a Fight" is the Sweetback Sisters' finest work yet. The group has managed to capture a classic country sound, but make it sound fresh, modern, lively, and, dare I say, tasteful? Harmonies are spot-on, instrumentals smokin', and twangs in all the right places. What's also unusual is the quality of all the songs on the album. How many times do you buy a CD site unseen, only to find that half the tracks are clunkers? Not so here. Credit should also go to whoever did the arranging, audio recording, and production. Something about "Looking for a Fight" just *feels* right. So bust out your iPods, this one's a keeper! |
