5.0 out of 5 stars My best purchase of 2001!, December 22, 2001

This review is from: Looking Glass River (Audio CD)
I purchased this CD at a solo concert by Kirk Nurock, and it has rarely left my CD-player ever since. I must have listened to this disc at least 100 times and have pretty much memorized all the lyrics and even most of the piano improvisations. (This is tough stuff, not "laaah-di-da", folks!)

These are some of the most beautiful + haunting songs that I have ever heard, performed by two of the most supreme musicians of our time. The performers draw on all sorts of influences - including jazz, classical, new-age, rock, cabaret, gospel, cooky sound effects -- and the result is a very subtle, sublime record of transfixing beauty.

This album, in my mind, stands next to "Kind of Blue" as a towering artistic achievement.

Certainly nothing less than that.
