From Publishers Weekly

Narrator Karrie Kline returns with her stories of frogs that never turn to princes in this follow-up to You Have to Kiss a Lot of Frogs. As Karrie turns her tales of dating woe into a successful one-woman show, it seems that being an expert on bad dates doesn't guarantee she'll get good ones. She tries out Internet dating and interviews some old love interests (a move lifted from Nick Hornsby's High Fidelity) to get to the bottom of "dating over forty." A holiday trip to her mother's retirement community in Palm Beach is a refreshing move: The visit provides her with a chance to compare the change in relationships from one generation to the next, as she scrutinizes "the different steps in the mating dance of the post World War II world" and hears her aunt's nostalgic stories of love over coffee and a game of mahjong. While Graff doesn't break any new ground, she offers a fun tour of New York, and readers will welcome the return of her smart narrator.

From Booklist

Graff's follow-up to her debut, You Have to Kiss a Lot of Frogs (2004), finds fortysomething actress Karrie Kline at her friend Brooke's wedding. To her chagrin she's there without a date, but it works to her advantage when she hits it off with sexy Doug Fox and gives him her number. At this point, the story flashes back to recap Karrie's dating mishaps, including an almost tryst with an amorous actor friend, a foray into the world of online dating, and the development of her own one-woman stage show, Frogaphobia, based on a lifetime's worth of bad dates. Karrie's adventures from the year before take up a majority of the novel, and the narrative doesn't work its way back up to the present until it has passed the halfway mark. Readers will be happy when Doug finally reappears, and will eagerly turn the pages to learn if he is Karrie's happy ending, or if her destiny lies elsewhere. Kristine Huntley

1.0 out of 5 stars Has anyone even read this book!!!, May 10, 2006
By
L. Sandor (Fort Lauderdale, FL) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I didn't even make it through the first chapter before wanting to throw this book accross the room. I was extremely irritated that I spent money on this book when clearly no one has ever read it before, probably not even the writer herself. There were so many typos, mis-used words, and incorrect sentences that it was hard to even pay attention to the story. How a book can be published without ANYONE noticing these mistakes is beyond me. I guess the publishers were just trying to get the sequel out before anyone realized what a crock her first story was.

It was not only the grammer that horrified me. The boring nature of this story and the uncreative writing that presented it was a complete and utter turn off as well. I hate not finishing a book once I've started it, but I assure you I will never pick up this book again. If the story holds any truth and the writer started as a stand-up performer, I strongly urge her to stick to her day job and never pick up a pen again.

I've never written a review before in my life, however I felt extremely compelled to stop anyone from making the same mistake I did in buying this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars solid anecdotal chick lit tale, April 2, 2006
Forty-six years old actress Karrie Kline has dated and kissed many frogs, but she remains single still LOOKING FOR MR. GOODFROG. She knows her quest for her pond mate means YOU HAVE TO KISS A LOT OF FROGS, but this becomes increasingly depressing. Still her experiences with the dating scene has given her plenty of material for her one woman show, but no man seems right to escort her to the wedding of her best friend Brooke. Thus as the one year clock ticks away for her to find the perfect date, Karrie panics turning to the internet.

Men seem to come out every nick, cranny, and frond as many respond to her simple inquiries. She finds herself visiting parts of New York City she never heard of on dates that in some cases are fun but he is not the one or just plain hell and he is definitely not anyone's one. Karrie ponders if she will be dancing with married men and single females at Brooke's nuptials.

This is an anecdotal chick lit tale and readers will enjoy Karrie's perspective of her dates, especially her prejudicial insight to her date mates from that first glance, to a warm embracing dance, to the first kiss, and the post game analysis of thumbs up or down. Though somewhat defeated, Karrie keeps on seeking her Goodfrog by dumping those she considers as losers and desperately clinging to keep those she considers as possibilities. Readers will enjoy this amphibious sequel starring dating in the New York City pond.

5.0 out of 5 stars Droll and realistic!, November 29, 2011
Laurie Graff is funny and Looking for Mr. Goodfrog is a delight to read. Easy to follow and fun, belly laughing incidences of a young woman's life. She never lets up and the stories are one after the other with charm and wit.

On the other hand, she is philosophical and intelligent which made it more than just a fluff piece of writing. I found this book enlightening and smart. The story is of a woman who goes through one man after the other not by choice but because none will commit. In a light hearted but deeply witty droll form, she gives us the woman of the present and her dilemmas. Loved it.

Will read the one before it now. Looking forward to it.
