5.0 out of 5 stars Great recommendations on "building" a versatile wardrobe.
Linda Dano does a great job of showing how smart it is to choose basic colors for your wardrobe and to maximize there. She demonstrates the numerous choices you have by choosing "simple" basics in quality fabrics, that you can then mix and match with many different accessories. 2.0 out of 5 stars Should be in your library!
I refer to this book time and time again. Linda Dano shows you how to dress in a timeless, flattering, classic way. When the concept is applied, you'll never say, "I have nothing to wear!"

Linda Dano does a great job of showing how smart it is to choose basic colors for your wardrobe and to maximize there. She demonstrates the numerous choices you have by choosing "simple" basics in quality fabrics, that you can then mix and match with many different accessories. I really liked how she spelled out and listed exactly what basics you need. I've followed her advice and have a very versatile wardrobe for under $2000. I'm sure it will last a long time, as well, as I purchased well-made, quality items.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Simplistic Advice, December 28, 1999
This review is from: Looking Great (Paperback)
Although I found it a little frustrating that she took a one size fits all attitude to what a woman needs in her wardrobe, I still think the book is invaluable. She helps you build a core wardrobe in a timeless manner. I bought this book after having a baby and finding that my body shape had changed, I found great advice that helped me discover the most flattering styles for me, and stop wasting money on clothes that weren't quite right. She is a gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book To Take With You When You Shop, September 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Looking Great (Hardcover)
I was apprehensive about buying a book done by a celebrity. Most of the time the information is useless for the average person. This book was well worth the money. She explains how to develop a great wardrobe without buying that many outfits. I hope she will do another book, because I for one will buy it.

I have long been an admirer of Ms Dano - from Another World, to Attitudes on Lifetime, to One Life to Live, to QVC. She has a wonderful style about her that makes one take notice without being overpowering or too over the top.

This book is a really helpful guide of finding your own style and building your own wardrobe. She helps you thru the difficult parts and shows you how to build - one piece at a time. She gives so many helpful hints on accessorizing to keep your look fresh rather than faddish. And the very best of all, it can be attained affordably!

I took her advice to heart and have the beginnings of a wonderful wardrobe that will help me to keep stylish for years.
Heck, it even helped me to win an award for personal style.

Thanks, Ms. Dano, for a much needed book for the average woman.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Advice, June 11, 2001

This review is from: Looking Great (Paperback)
When I graduated from college, I realized that all I had in my closet were jeans and T-shirts. I didn't have anything appropriate to wear to a job interview. I also had very little money to spend on new clothes. I knew of Linda Dano from her work on Another World and her columns in Soap Opera Digest, so I took a chance on this book. This book is a fabulous fountain of information for building a wonderful wardrobe. By knowing the items of clothing that I would get the most use out of, I managed to build a wardrobe that is versatile and will last for years. Between Linda Dano's great advice and witty style, this book is a winner all the way.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a practical, useful book that's fun to read., May 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Looking Great (Paperback)
This book is for anyone who has a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear. Ms. Dano guides the reader through the process of creating a classic wardrobe that will stand the test of time and fads. I used to dread shopping because so many of my purchases ended up languishing, unworn, in the back of my closet. No more! Now I know what I'm looking for.

My only complaint is that more time and space was spent on wardrobes for work and not leisure wear. And I could have lived without the chapters on makeup and weight loss; I'd love an entire book from Linda Dano focusing solely on clothing.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a must-have for women seeking to look great, January 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Looking Great (Paperback)
Linda Dano's book is excellent and provides tips on everything from wardrobe to skincare and haircare products. She helps you identify which clothes look best on your body type, and shows you which items you absolutely can't live without. A great walk-through book! She really gives you the basics for becoming a polished and well-groomed woman. It would be great to see this book updated in 1999.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly "Smart" guide for dieting and style., August 31, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Looking Great (Hardcover)
Linda Dano gives it to you straight, in practical and humorous terms, much like a good friend would. Her advice on fashion is so valuable -- and easy to follow. And her chapter on weight loss is the most honest and useful I've ever found -- the program she used to lose 40 lbs is simply amazing. A "best buy" book for getting results you can actually see.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real life advice for real life women!, April 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Looking Great (Hardcover)
Linda Dano takes a look at the challenges of being affordably stylish for today's woman. All areas of our life are addressed with advice that is easy to follow and very affordable. The pitfalls we all face, like what to throw away and how to organize it after we've bought it, are made easier with the advice Linda dispenses. It's more like an visit with a girlfriend than a "how-to" book. I recommend it without hesitation to any woman needing a helping hand!!
