Bluegrass
I had never heard of this band until I read somewhere that Dan Tyminski had belonged at one time, and I'm a new fan of his. Well, since he was a part of the "Soggy Bottom Boys" and I saw him on the Grand Ole Opry performing the song from the movie. I love his singing and his backup singing with Allison and Union Station. I have loved Allison since I saw her backing up Vince Gill on the Opry - singing and playing the fiddle on When I Call Your Name. And didn't know til I found I had that song on one of my albums by her. I was trying to find some more albums by Dan and Amazon directed me to Lonesome River Band, so I bought them up. Praise be, this one has Dan picking the mandolin and singing. The mandolin and the fiddle are my favorite instruments. I have at least one other one with Dan on it, but they're all very good, I listen to them over and over. Between The Osborne Brothers and Flatt & Scruggs and all the others, however right now LRB is playing the majority of the time. Both my husband and I love bluegrass and he had never heard of LRB before either. We don't have any good radio stations in this area. They are all geared to the younger generations. I guess from the 50's down, because that's how old our children are and they sure don't like it. Even though they were raised up listening to it. Actually we had all kinds of music in the house back then. But now we're more geared to Bluegrass. So we have to learn about new music out by word of mouth more or less. Or I have found quite a few we weren't aware of by browsing Amazon. The Lonesome River Band is a great bluegrass band as far as I'm concerned. I love all bluegrass going back to Jimmy Rogers and all in between. I just hope LRB doesn't run out of songs any time soon. We need some more singers, pickers, and songwriters to keep bluegrass alive until I'm gone. However, I've got nearly all of LRB music so maybe I'll make it. All of the songs on this album are very well done. The harmony is so close and just beautiful. I love the spirituals like Brother John. Some of the songs on this album I didn't recognize, so that must mean someone out there is still writing good bluegrass.
KEEP MAKING GOOD BLUEGRASS LRB.
OH AND, Dan Tyminski, please put out another album. I just am in love with you. You have such a handsome face and a beautiful happy smile. But don't get anxious, I'm 70 years old.
