Product Description

The Perplexus Family has a fascinating new Twist This time around you will find traps cliffhangers and dead ends. You can only move on by twisting and realigning the tracks within the shell. A great new dimension for the Perplexus Family of toys. For ages 6 and up.

From the Manufacturer

If Fluxx wasn't confusing and strange enough, now the Pythons have gotten involved with the proceedings and made it even more hysterical. Monty Python Fluxx now includes singing, fake accents, reciting Python dialog for extra cards, and pretty much everything else, short of farting in your general direction. (It is, after all, a game for the whole family.) Loosely based on concepts from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, there are guest appearances from King Arthur and all of his Knights, coconuts, a shrubbery, an unladen swallow, a trojan rabbit, a catapult, an airborne cow, the Holy Hand Grenade, and the Finger of God, as well as such Python classics as the giant foot, the nude organist, a resting parrot, and the Spanish Inquisition - which, of course everyone was expecting.

Looney Labs' Monty Python Fluxx is a variation on their popular Fluxx card game, expanding on the updated game play first introduced in Zombie Fluxx. The added bonus is the insanity of the Pythons, for this game includes dead parrots, knights that say "Ni!" and not even one morsel of cheese.

COMPONENTS:

100 cards and a set of instructions. The cards are not plastic/linen coated, but seem fairly durable. The cards consist of six types: Goal, Action, Basic Rules, New Rule, Keeper, and Creeper.

GAME PLAY:

Trying to describe gameplay is difficult since one of the fun elements of the game is that the winning conditions (Goal) are unknown before the game starts. Not only this, but the rules of the game change as New Rule cards are played.

To begin, each player is dealt three cards. If a player receives a Creeper card, mostly evil creatures from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" in this variant (and, of course, the Spanish Inquisition, which no one expects), the Creeper is immediately laid down and another card drawn to replace it.

The Basic Rules card is laid down. That card tells the players to draw a card and play a card. Any one of the cards the player has in hand can be played. Those playable cards belong to one of four types:

GOAL cards, when played, will determine the winning conditions for the game. Playing a new Goal card will eliminate the previous goal (in most cases, depending on new rules currently in force).

KEEPER cards are used to satisfy the Goal card's winning conditions. For instance, if the Goal is to have the Holy Grail and Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch Keeper cards and a player has played those cards, that player wins.

My girlfriend & I first played the Zombie Fluxx with friends. Then I saw this one online and purchased it. I love this one SO MUCH MORE than the Zombie one. It's not just a card game, but you have silly things to do like talking/singing with a silly accent (which gets you to play more cards), repeating lines from the movie. It's so much fun. Have friends over, or even just 1.

Just make sure you clear enough room on the table.

Now bring me a shrubbery, or I shall say Nee a second time!

I bought this game because I'm a fan of Monty Python & Fluxx. It usually sells for $15, but this set with "free wooden box" was adveristed at $12. What a bargin!! (or so I thought....) It doesn't qualify for free shipping and by the time I realized it I payed an additional $10 for shipping. So instead of $15 & free shipping, with an order over $25, I paid $22 for just this one item. I should have bought the less expensive version and a second/different game.

If you haven't played Fluxx before, you may want to try out the basic version first. The rules start out simple but change rapidily or "Fluxx". It can be quite confusing at times.

The Monty Python theme of this game is hilarious & is a favorite with my family and game group.

If you buy this make sure to go get the seperate "Castle Expansion Pack" and "Sir Not Appearing In This Game Promo Card". These are an additional seven cards that are awesome. You can generally find these on ebay for $5 total.

My kids (10 and 8) just watched MP & Holy Grail for the first time. When my husband and I saw this Fluxx game, we knew they'd be really excited to play. We're all a fan of Fluxx in general and own several different versions of the game. The regularly changing rules give everything an element of chaos that makes it hard to have anything buy fun while playing. The Monty Python version adds the level of silliness any Python fan would expect and cherish. From talking in funny accents to singing favorite songs, there is so much to keep you laughing and nostalgic for your favorite Python films/episodes, you'll probably want to watch them when you're done. And as Python fans know, once you start quoting, you can't stop. With partial quotes on most of the cards, the game winds up full of everyone finishing them off and quoting remaining dialogue back and forth. For our family of Python fans, the sheer happy joy of playing this game together makes it priceless.

I bought this game for a friend whom loves the Monty Python Search for the Holy Grail movie. He absolutely loves the game and we have played it multiple times after he opened it. The game is great because you never know what to expect. Goals change all the time, and a hand that looked like it might win, can be a terrible hand in an instant. Strategies that worked in one game to win, may not work in the next game.

When we first started playing it was a little confusing, as we had never played any of the Fluxx games, and the constant changes in goals and rules was something we had never experienced before. However, it did not take long to acclimate to the game, and we were soon playing with no problems and having a great time. Don't worry about reading the game's directions too thoroughly, everything changes constantly. Just skim through the directions to get a feel for how it all works.

I recommend this game to others whom like card games and don't mind craziness. If you don't like change this game is not for you. Also, if you don't know anything about the movie you won't understand the cards' jokes or references, but it can still be fun regardless. All I can say is that I need to work on my fake accent...
