4.0 out of 5 stars An attempt to bring old characters to a modern age
True, this collection is not quite up to the standards of the classic clips. However, it's really not THAT bad. Even ok Looney Tunes are still far superior to most of today's fare, in my opinion.

Here's a listing of what's included on the DVD:
Sports Blab#1
Sports Blab#2
Aluminum Chef#1
Aluminum Chef #2
Tear Factor

This DVD contains webtoons. These are NOT classic Looney Tunes! These are badly-animated Internet cartoons that were originally available for free at the Official Looney Tunes website. The Looney Tunes characters are not acting like themselves and the voice acting is off. Don't buy this, buy the classics! Get the 4-disc Looney Tunes Golden Collection instead -- it has 56 restored Looney Tunes and it is full of good special features. Don't buy this DVD as it will be an insult to the viewer's intelligence.

Also, this isn't a very good bargain. [$$$] for an hour of material?

1.0 out of 5 stars don't bother, this is an insult to fans, September 13, 2003

The other review is right on, but I felt there needed to be more than one review to better convince people.

All modern-made Looney Tunes cartoons are awful. They feature none of the elements that made the others classic: uninspired voice-acting, poor comedic timing, little originality, and decent-at-best animation. In other words, no Mel Blanc, no Chuck Jones, and no Carl Stalling. Check out the Looney Tunes - Golden Collection series instead. Those are guaranteed to satisfy.

Please do not support the continued production of cruddy cartoons.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible!, November 1, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Looney Tunes - Reality Check (DVD)
I don't write many online reviews, but had to with this one. If your buying this DVD hoping to see anything related to Looney Tunes, skip this one! It is boring, the voices don't sound anything like what you would expect the Looney Tunes characters to sound like, and the animation looks like it came out of the paint program in your accessories folder. This DVD is really bad and I have a high tolerance for pain!

Thank God I found this for 99 cents in a bargain bin - it's the worst thing I've ever seen....

POORLY ANIMATED
POORLY CREATED
VOICE OVER IS HORRIFIC

and if you buy this for more than a penny - you're a fool like I was...thank heavens I only bought it cheap on VHS - if I had bought it on DVD I would have been more ticked off...

I can at least give it to someone with kids who won't know the difference, but for us adults...don't insult us futher - give us the originals, restored, but don't try to sell us this WORTHLESS PIECE OF JUNK!

1.0 out of 5 stars What's going on?, May 6, 2004
This review is from: Looney Tunes - Reality Check (DVD)
I just watched this dvd.
Or what I could endure of it!

The drawings are bland and generic, reminding me of the many
cheap mass produced cartoons and web toons you see,

Backgrounds have no detail, solid colourfills

ALL Colours are just plain fills,

Animations look like flash animations,

Sound effects seem like they ALL come from 1 sound effect cd and VERY poorly synchronized and mixed, for instance, if the same
event occurs 5 times in a row they just play the exact same
sound effect five times, no variations....

Music, not much of it, pretty generic, almost NO synchronisation
to action

Jokes... my little cousin didn't find them funny, neither did I,
and the comic timing is off, WAY off

Last but not least, the voice acting..... argg, the best would
probably be Daffy, the others ranged from bad to worse (even
worser and worsest...) with Bugs being pretty bad and Foghorn
absolutely taking the cake and biscuit and all.... sheesh

All in all, this is the one of the worst and most blatant attempts to cash in on a good franchise, why OH why couldn't they (WB that is) have put proper thought into this?

Oh, and one more thing, in one of the toons, they take Tweety/Sylvester into sadism with Tweety electrocuting Sylvester repeatedly in a electric chair execution chamber, not funny, basically disgusting, going from Looney Tunes style cartoon violence over to gruesome real life suffering (plus just not being funny in the least)

Verdict: guilty, one (1) star but only because I can't give any lower! I actually cannot find one (1) redeeming factor about this dvd (I looked). Avoid this release

1.0 out of 5 stars "Realitty Check"?, September 17, 2003

What 'reality check' - the one the suits at
Warner need?
Warner finally has the "no-brainer of the century",
after all these years: to release the "real"
classics (The Golden Collection), but adds
insult to long undured injury by tossing their 'garbage'
at us at the same time- hoping to confuse us?
The 56 Toons listed on the Golden Collection
represent the real deal: real art and real talent!
C'mon Warner: please listen to US!

I rented this for a dollar last week, and I want my dollar back!
The other reviewers have done an excellent job of bashing this abomination already. The "Survivor" take-off had one laugh (I now forget what that was, the rest was so bad), but the rest was unfunny. Fans will have noticed the occasional plagiarism of classic LT lines such as "I'm only twee and a half years old", but even these were placed in contexts that didn't make a lick of sense.
If you must buy this DVD, please burn it and send the ashes to Warner Bros.

2.0 out of 5 stars So bad there should be a warning label, December 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Looney Tunes - Reality Check (DVD)
First, let me say that I am a hard core Looney Tunes fan. I have about 25 polo shirts and 3 jackets from the old Warner Bros. stores. I taped all 40+ hours of the Looney Tunes cartoons played on the Cartoon Network Looney Tunes Marathon a couple years ago, getting up in the middle of the night to change tapes. etc. etc. You will think "Reality Check" is awful if you are used to Looney Tunes quality animation and stories. Some of the writing is smart and I did laugh a few times, but I have to admit it was painful for me to watch the awful animation and listen to some character voices that were way off. If you can get beyond these defects, the DVD is OK, but no real Looney Tunes fan could recommend this. I thought this was going to be new cartoons similar to the quality I saw in the recently released "Back In Action". My mistake for making such a ridiculous connection. There should be a warning label on this DVD: "These are low quality animations from previously-produced web toons." I only found this out after reading the reviews here, after I had already bought it.

1.0 out of 5 stars THIS MEANS WAR!, October 29, 2011
By
Jukebox Dave (RECORD TOWN, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Looney Tunes - Reality Check (DVD)
LOONEY TUNES-REALITY CHECK: Wotta revoltin' development THIS is! Warner Brothers, as your own little black duck used to sputter in disgust, "You're dethpicable!"...A fitting enough critique for this shameful, shabby collection of recent not-at-all-looney 'tunes, saddled with flat animation, abysmal Mel Blanc imitations, and an overall Z-grade attempt to cash in on Bugs and friends' 14 cawwot golden years. Of course, you know this means war!

RATING: ONE DUMB BUNNY
