5.0 out of 5 stars The Bok ... Rock, January 13, 2003
This review is from: Loopholes and Great Excuses (Audio CD)
Let's get one thing straight. I really love this band. This E.P. released on Roadrunner Record's Australian subsiduary Dark Carnival is a shining example of the quality of the Australian metal scene. Each track is brimming with life and energy. From their grindcore begginings, the band has expanded their sound to incorporate bigger riffing, and that intangible human quality to the drums, having done away with the drum machine used on the last album.

The most used comparison used for Frankenbok's music is Angel Dust-era Faith No More, crossed with Slayer's metal sensabilities. For the best example of this, you need to see the band live, but the madness is ably captured here, and first track Monk Discipline is a fine example. Running grind through a nu-metal mixer, this track is only the start of a great metal ride, finishing with the cover of dance act Madison Avenue's Dont Call Me Baby, which the video really plays up to best effect.

If you are looking for something different then deffinantly check this band out. Though the singer left the band about a year after this cd came out, the band are moving ahead, and it will be interesting to see if the new line up can match the intensity and insanity of the original.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something For Kate - Echolalia, August 2, 2002
Something For Kate are an amazing Austalian band, they hail from Melbourne. This album is absolutly fantastic and has to be bought! Monsters is one of the best songs I have ever heard and have had it on repeat for months. Its like a mix of English indie music and Nirvana....perhaps that doesn't do it justice...just by it and be sure you've made a right decision.
