Book Description

A Jack Taggart Mystery May 1, 2005

Jack Taggart, an undercover Mountie, lives in a world where the good guys and the bad guys change places in a heartbeat. Taggart is very good at what he does. Too good to be playing by the rules. The brass decide to assign a new partner to spy on him.

Taggart's new partner discovers a society dependent upon unwritten rules. To break these rules is to lose respect. To lose respect is to lose one's life. Loose Ends is terrifying. It is a tale of violence, corruption, and retribution, but it is also a story of honour and respect.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"While shining a light on the seedier side of life, Easton also provides and entertaining and worthwhile read."

"The grime and grisliness portrayed in Loose Ends are solidly rooted in reality, but be prepared for some pretty shocking revelations about the length to which undercover agents go. The ending will blow you away."

About the Author

Don Easton worked as an undercover Mountie for twenty years. He lived a life of false identities and with contracts on his life. He's witnessed horrific crimes - and made decisions as to who should live or die. Loose Ends depicts a realism that could be achieved only through real-life experiences.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy Good Read, September 5, 2005

I did not know what to expect when I began reading this novel, but about 10 pages in I knew I was not going to be able to put it down. What a gritty and tense story. The characters are very well written and have a certain human feel to them, as if I know them out side of the novel. I recomend this book to anyone who is looking for a great read, but I warn you to not start unless you have an afternoon off as you will not be able to put it down! I can also see this turned into a super movie!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read, June 28, 2005
By
This review is from: Loose Ends: A Jack Taggart Mystery (Mass Market Paperback)
Finally a book that brings home the bacon, it closely relates to the reality of law enforcement challenges and the brutal world of bike gangs. These criminal organizations operate almost unrestrained within the present governing laws of our "free" society. They take advantage of budget challenged police agencies and the inept liberal criminal justice system.

Easton should be applauded for his ability to blend his police experience and fiction so closely that it is hard to tell one from another. It is refreshing and the same time chilling how close the characters are to reality. They almost mirror the lives of our dedicated and the few corrupt officers of the legal and police professions, and the greedy power hungry animals that feed on the weak of our society. When I cracked the cover I was unable to put it down, I read it in its entirety! Tarantino should have a close look at this for a movie, as he would bring it to the big screen with out destroying its integrity. A great read!
