Editorial Reviews

Review

Eldonna Bouton has written and designed a very instructive journal writing book. Readers can use this artistically produced book to inspire their self-expression and, more importantly, to answer provocative questions that will inevitably trigger memories and feelings. The questions raised throughout the book are to-the-point questions about parents, siblings, exes, lovers, and more. Bouton's essay on forgiveness is definitely worth the price of the book. Even if you have transcended the need for cathartic/healing journaling, you may know others who need a gentle push to tie up their loose ends, and what a precious gift it will make. -- Bob Banner, Publisher Hopedance Magazine

Eldonna has created a lovely journaling experience, weaving understanding and acceptance into a beacon of light to guide you through the dark holes of the past. Well worth the journey. -- Kathleen Waddell, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist

Loose Ends is a deceptively simple, yet powerful tool for personal and spiritual growth. Author Eldonna Bouton takes us by the hand with genuine warmth, compassion, and just the right dose of humor; gently guiding us toward closure of past hurts and pains. Through Loose Ends we can move forward to a new, brighter version of ourselves. -- Jan Forrest, author, Coming Home to Ourselves: Journaling Toward Wholeness

Loose Ends is quite wonderful. Very specific ideas for writing unsent letters and dealing with old stuff are so useful. I like the look and feel of the book, too - important in a workbook. -- Catherine deCuir, about.com/aboutjournals

Loose Ends: A Journaling Tool For Tying Up The Incomplete Details Of Your Life And Heart will help to resolve the unfinished business in all aspects of life while prompting the reader to write about the issues closes to the heart. There is a redemptive and inspiring power in the written word. Journaling is an effective method of employing that healing and problem solving approach which in Loose Ends is enhanced with an organizational framework and "starting-point" advisory instructions and suggestions. -- Midwest Book Review

2.0 out of 5 stars Review a Copy Offline Before Buying, February 19, 2000
This review is from: Loose Ends: A Journaling Tool for Tying Up the Incomplete Details of Your Life & Heart (Paperback)
The book's desciption lists it as 176 pages in length, however, it's a bit misleading, as there are roughly 20 blank lined pages at the end of the book. There are also about 60 blank lined pages throughout the book - 2 for each exercise, and 30 or so topic title pages. The remaining pages of consist of a half page each containing a paragraph or two of widely-spaced exercise text. So, basically, there's only about 15-25 pages worth of actual content.

5.0 out of 5 stars Barbara Wray Wayland, author, The Annotated History of ME, March 20, 2000
This review is from: Loose Ends: A Journaling Tool for Tying Up the Incomplete Details of Your Life & Heart (Paperback)
Eldonna's book on journaling is a gentle guide, not a set of rules. It invites, not exhorts, one to peer into the dusty corners and make peace with the ghosts of the past. It's eye-pleasing format invites you to set pen to paper and each section has lovely quotes which set the tone and provoke thought. An all-together pleasing book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Way To Move On, January 4, 2000
This review is from: Loose Ends: A Journaling Tool for Tying Up the Incomplete Details of Your Life & Heart (Paperback)
As a long-time journaller who is always looking for new ways to express myself, Loose Ends is a real gift. Although I'd used the Unsent Letter method of journalling in the past - with some very powerful results - this book has given me great ideas on people who I hadn't thought of yet. And the introductions that go with each section are simple and direct - just what I need to get to the heart of the matter with each person. Eldonna's book has been and will continue to be a powerful tool to help me get below the surface in my journalling.
