Editorial Reviews

2 years after the runaway success of SCREWBALLS, distributor Roger Corman and director Rafal Zielinski unleashed the lascivious sequel fans had waited for! This time, Beaver High's 4 horniest screw-ups are sent to Coxwell Academy where they'll break every rule for a private lesson with sexy new French teacher Miss Mona Lott. But before they can get a look at her luscious cream puffs, they'll unscrew a semester of amateur breast exams, gratuitous aerobics, crazed cougars, beach bikini blowouts, bad new wave music, high school girls in lingerie, strippers in whipped cream and more!

If you guessed the fat guy, you guessed right, and you can figure out how that ends up.

I'm usually not into this type of movie, but I enjoyed this movie twenty years ago when it was on Showtime.

While the guys in the movie are hardly sympathetic characters, they combine to make for a fun flick.

I was very disappointed. I'm usually not into this type of movie, but I enjoyed this movie twenty years ago when it was on Showtime. Not only are there NO chapter menus, they've editted out some of the nudity that made this movie stand out in the genre.

Well, I saw Screwballs and after being very pleased with that movie, I recently purchased Loose Screws a.k.a. Screwballs II. It was a good sequel. The humor was more juvenile and the plot wasn't as creative, but the movie did entertain. But as with most Hollywood sequels, this one did not exceed the entertainment value of the first movie and should be rated for its own entertainmnt value - which it earned a generously respectable rating. If anyone is an 80's comedy completionist who also enjoys a fun movie, then Loose Screws: Screwballs II is the right movie to purchase. The acting is definitely not that great, but these actors are not in this movie for an Oscar nomination. They are in it to entertain viewers, which they succeeded at very well in my opinion.

This is one of those nostalgic T & 80s movies that they just don't make anymore. I first saw it in the late 80s and I'm glad it's finally out on DVD. It's filled with puns and the old "get back at the ruthless principal" motifs so common in party movies. Of course, it also contains that obligatory hot French teacher whom everyone wants to have "private lessons" with.

While the guys in the movie are hardly sympathetic characters, they combine to make for a fun flick. They have clever ways of spying on women's dorm rooms and locker rooms. Sure, the film is far fetched, but it's SUPPOSED to be!! And, best of all, Corman delivers on his normal promise of lots & lots of nudity.

If you're in the market for a movie about high school mischiefs, then this one is certainly worth a look. The film delivers on everything a party movie supposed to do & be.

Ignore the bad reviews for this movie. This movie is for folks who love to laugh and have a sense of humor. Period the end.

The Mona Lott chick in this movie is hot!!!! An extra bonus. This movie is for you.

From Roger Corman and Walt Disney (who recently purchased the rights to release Corman's extensive film catalog onto DVD), comes this mediocre excuse for a teen sex comedy titled Loose Screws (1985). Corman, always in touch with what audiences of the time wanted, or at least willing to completely rip off other, more popular films as they came out, released a handful of these films in the 1980s, some decent, some not (this movie falls in with the latter)...this Canadian production, directed by Rafal Zielinski (Screwballs, Valet Girls, Screwball Hotel), features Bryan Genesse (California Casanova), Lance Van Der Kolk (State Park), Alan Deveau (Screwballs, Recruits), and Jason Warren (Screwballs). Also appearing is Mike MacDonald (Oddballs, Recruits), Cynthia Belliveau (Goofballs), and Deborah Lobban ("Degrassi Junior High").

As the movie opens, we find ourselves at Beaver High, and Principal Hardbutt is wishing all the students a happy summer break (in terms of comedy, this is about as good as it gets, lame sexual references and ridiculously obvious innuendoes). Well, not all, as it turns out four students are going to have to go to summer school if they want to graduate (seems they've been in the twelfth grade for the last four years). The students are (are your ready for this?) Steve Hardman (Van Der Kolk), the tall, handsome blonde guy who always wears leather driving gloves even though he only drives a Chrysler Le Baron, Hugh G. Rection (Deveau), the diminutive nerdy, electronics whiz who's always carrying around a video camcorder, Marvin Eatmore (Warren), the horny fat guy who can't stop eating (he shirt even says `I'll eat anything'), and finally their slick talking leader Brad Lovett (Genesse)...see the comedic gold alone within the character's names?

At the time of writing this there is no cover picture or information, so I hope this is the Loose Screws movie starring Bryan Genessee. If it is, here is my review. This movie is basically Porky's from Canada. If you love the Porky's type comedy movies you'll love this. The movie was filmed in Canada with Canadian actors. This is supposed to be the sequel to Screwballs, but I think it's very loosely the sequel and much funnier. Here is the story. Four guys have to go to summer school. The school is Coxwell Academy, a "college of knowledge for morons". The guys are Brad Lovett (Bryan Genesee), Hugh G. Rection, Marvin Eatmore, and one other. You get the idea. The movie follows the exploits of the guys as they go through summer school. It's very 80's, but the movie is great and the music is excellent. Especially the song by The Extras "Circular Impressions", and the end theme "Screw It" by Denis Keldie.

Sometimes you just want to watch a silly, campy 80's movie... This movie captures a lot of the 80's that I forgot about!
