Well written for very traditional quilters,

I was unfamiliar with Helen Kelley's column. She writes interesting little columns with subtle humor - the subtitle "Stories to Keep Quilters in Stitches" in an overstatement. Ms. Kelley emphasizes hand applique and quilting and apparently does very elaborate quilts. For those of us looking for less subtle humor and a more slapdash approach to quilting and life, try "That Dorky Homemade Look" by Lisa Boyer.

Love her collections,

I have all of her books w/ her collections of writing for the magazine. I would read one or two stories a day to savor them. Then I bought some of her books for gifts to give my quilting friends too. If you enjoyed Helen Kelley's work then these are a must to have.
