5.0 out of 5 stars Cinema at its very best! September 7, 2013
Format:Audio CD
If you see one Indian film in your whole life, please do yourself a favor and make it this one. Lootera is easily the best foreign film of 2013 and arguably deserves to be a nominee in the Best Picture category for the year. Based on a 1907 O. Henry short story, this a beautiful tale of operatic proportion. During the 1950s, a young woman falls in love with a man who appears at her father's estate one day claiming to be an archaeologist who wants to excavate around a Hindu temple on their land. He is there for another purpose, though. He falls in love with her and asks for her hand in marriage but his allegiance to the thief who raised him forces him to leave the estate without explanation, taking with them all the precious cultural artifacts her father has sold to them, believing the other thieves in the group to be government officials who appear pursuant to a law enacted by the Indian government which strips zamindars (wealthy landowners) of their power to confiscate the relics and other possessions. The money he receives in exchange is counterfeit. They have also stolen the precious gold idol from the Hindu temple on his property. By the time the former lovers meet by accident a year later, her father has died and she is living in a small house in another town, dying of tuberculosis. By chance, her former love has traveled to this same town for a heist and rents a room on her land. She refuses to help the police catch him, even though she despises him for what he did. On the run from the police, he takes refuge in her house and she confronts him about all the pain he has caused.

Ranveer Singh gives a fantastic performance as the young man, Varun, but it's Sinokshi Sinha as Pakhi who captivates us throughout the film.

Just ok quality. I heard the songs before but the audio quality on this was just average especially since I was playing others back to back and the average quality of this CD showed.
