Book Description

December 2002 0131121421 978-0131121423 1st
Looting America: Greed, Corruption, Villains & Victims presents a vivid picture of pervasive corporate fraud. The authors, well-known authorities on criminology, argue that white collar crime is the most pernicious crime problem in America today, with financial, physical, and social costs dwarfing those of street crime. Looting America traces the historical roots of scandals infecting our economy today, with provocative information that will arouse righteous indignation.

This review is from: Looting America: Greed, Corruption, Villains, and Victims (Paperback)
If you want to instill hatred, fear, and loathing into your reader, this is an excellent book. Full of anecdotes and horror stories of cover-ups, unsafe medicine, and more, you definitely won't walk away with a love and trust for America's companies.

That said, though, what, really, IS the point of this book? There's no real purpose to the book besides to compile anecdotes; there aren't any trends or real investigation: why, for example, companies do this. If you're looking for research - as I was when I read this book - you'll be hard pressed to really find general or underlying information.
