2.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTING
While I strongly recommend MacDonald's books, When Life is a Struggle and Always True, I was disappointed in the contents of this book. I found it to be simplistic and overly "works/righteousness' oriented rather than grace driven.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Heart of Your Relationship With God, April 9, 2001
This review is from: Lord, Change My Attitude: Before Its Too Late (Paperback)
Pastor James MacDonald presents yet another outstanding book on a very neglected topic in today's Christianity. His premise is that our bad attitudes keep us away from the victorious Spirit-filled life that God wants us to live.

Using the scandalous Old Testament story of God refusing to allow the Israelites to enter the promised land, Pastor MacDonald pulls principles and applications right out of the text to identify my attitudes that INFURIATE the Lord (grumbling, complaining, etc.) and gives me practical ways to embrace attitudes that PLEASE Him (thankfulness, contentedness, etc.).

People who have read his best-selling debut, I Really Want To Change - So Help Me God, will be familiar with his very unique writing style. Think A.W. Tozer meets ESPN SportsCenter.

So get practical, get serious and get changing with this great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take Responsibility for Your Own Attitude!, October 8, 2006
This review is from: Lord, Change My Attitude: Before Its Too Late (Paperback)
"Lord, Change My Attitude (Before It's Too Late)" concerns the need for us to be reponsible for our own attitudes instead of letting others or circumstances dictate how we should act. The book is a timely title, especially when you consider the entitlement mentality and blame others for our problems attiude so prevalent in society.

James MacDonald takes 5 different negative attitudes and shows how we should replace those with a better attitude. Here are the book's contents:

1. Replace a Complaining Attitude
2. With a Thankful Attitude
3. Replace a Covetous Attitude
4. With an Attitude of Contentment
5. Replace a Critical Attitude
6. With an Attitude of Love
7. Replacing a Dobuting Attitude
8. With an Attitude of Faith
9. Replacing a Rebellious Attitude
10. With an Attitude of Submission

The book is well-thought out and well-written. The reader will be challenged to examine his or her own attitude towards others and life in general. I personally liked MacDonald's writing style (simple without being simplistic, challenging, etc.) and thoroughly enjoyed the book.

Read, enjoy, and be challenged. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's About Time for a Book Like This One!, January 3, 2003

This book is a revolutionary educational tool for the body of Christ. Our attitudes are the foundation of how we experience life. This book is easy reading and it is very action oriented. Every Christian should read this book and apply the principles, which are Word based, to his or her life. This an awesome book. Whoever reads this book and receives it will be eternally blessed! Classes should be offered in ministries based on this book.

Great, great book! His writing style is so personal, he uses a lot of personal stories and makes everything very practical. Easy to follow and I like how he gives you a few questions at the end to ponder. This guy is an amazing writer and even more amazing pastor. Check out his radio ministry: www.walkintheword.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed........., September 13, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Lord, Change My Attitude: Before Its Too Late (Paperback)
This book, along with Pastor James's other book (I Really Want TO Change), is one of the best books I've ever read. He has a way of talking right to you - and everything he has to say are things that every believer desperately needs to hear. This book has prompted me on to seriously changing my attitudes. Any one who reads this will be blessed - and convicted!

5.0 out of 5 stars A well written and contemplative book, May 28, 2005

James MacDonald is able to articulate his thinking very well. He has crystallised the principles found in the narratives of Numbers 11-16, and applied it to the 21st century.

This book is a very good read for all of us who want to live a Christ centred life. It requires a choice to do that - an attitude choice. I know the Holy Spirit will be with each one of us if we apply these principles to our lives.

I would recommend it to personal reading and small groups, as well as to families for their family devotions. Its also good for church book clubs. It can stimulate lot of discussion and thinking.

This is a great Bible study if you truly want to change your attitude. James MacDonald has an easy to read and understand style that gets the most out of the Word of God. He covers 10 attitudes putting off each of five negetive attitudes and replacing them with 5 positive attitudes using the Isrealites in Numbers as examples. This is the second time I have done this study and I really needed the review. This is a book you will want to read and review every year or so.

the author, James Mcdonald, has a way of being "real". We are a society of legalistic, religious people, missing God's true points. I think James hit a HomeRun with this one

4.0 out of 5 stars Attitude adjustments for those weary of wilderness living., August 11, 2007
By
This review is from: Lord, Change My Attitude: Before Its Too Late (Paperback)
A 2007 summer reading list mini review.

James MacDonald has written a relevant book about approaching life with the proper attitudes. The steps are clear as they are obtainable. It is written with a pastor's heart but also from the perspective of just an ordinary believer trying to follow God wholeheartedly no matter what.

Macdonald's candor about his own struggles helps the reader to deal honestly with their own. This is an excellent first book for those not famliliar with the concepts of "taking off and putting on." The book examines individual unbiblical attitudes such as complaining and rebellion and shows how to replace those with biblical attitudes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource to help you get out of a rut, July 13, 2007
This review is from: Lord, Change My Attitude: Before Its Too Late (Paperback)
what a great book! Sometimes life doesn't seem to be going anywhere and you feel stuck in a rut, unable to move forward...have you tried it all?? Check your attitude. What a wake up call to practical attitude adjustments that can really change the way you look at life and your circumstances. Sometimes instead of looking "out" a good look "inside" is the answer, and I think anyone could use that from time to time. It's not easy, but this book really helps guide you through it. I recommend it highly.
