5 Stars! "Lovers of historical romances will thoroughly enjoy Michelle M. Pillow's Lord of Fire, Lady of Ice. Pillow's lush attention to detail shines throughout the novel, vividly revealing the scenery and the people living in Strathfeld Castle. The author's graceful prose in addition to her use of language and dialect fitting with the medieval time period makes the story even more real." - Jeep Diva Reviews

Note from the Author
Late in the 8th century, Vikings (also called Danes and Norsemen) began to raid and plunder the English coasts. By the end of the 9th century, they were a powerful force that reigned over the Anglo-Saxons, settling and ruling much of England--including Northumbria, York, Mercia and East Anglia. The Norse king, Guthrum, wanted Wessex--the only territory left to conquer. Though they fought, no side claimed victory and Wessex's borders remained secure.

In 871, King Aethelred of Wessex was mortally wounded at the Battle of Martin only to be succeeded by his brother King Alfred (known now as Alfred the Great). Even with a new Anglo-Saxon king, the Nordic army was vast and none could predict how young Alfred would fair against them. For those Anglo-Saxons living under Viking authority, it was a hard time. In a land torn by war, ruled over by fierce warriors, it wasn't wise to change allegiances. Ealdormen (later to be called Earls) were the chief magistrates, leaders of armies and the highest ranking nobles of the period, below the king.

This period of time is commonly known as The Dark Ages. Though the events surrounding this story are based on the history of the time, the main settings, characters and situations are purely fictional.

ABOUT MICHELLE
Author of All Things Romance

As long as she can remember, Michelle has had a strange fascination with anything supernatural and sci-fi. After discovering historical romance novels, it was only natural that the supernatural and love/romance elements should someday meet in her wonderland of a brain. She's glad they did for their children have been pouring onto the computer screen ever since.

Michelle loves to travel and try new things, whether it's a paranormal investigation of an old Vaudeville Theatre or climbing Mayan temples in Belize. She's addicted to movies and used to drive her mother crazy while quoting random scenes with her brother. Though it has yet to happen, her dream is to be in a horror movie as 1. A zombie or 2. The expendable screaming chick who gets it in the beginning credits. But for the most part she can be found writing in her office with a cup of coffee in pajama pants.

Come say hello! She loves talking with readers on social media!

The plot might be as old as the castle tapestries BUT NOT the way this story is told. There are twists that entangle the reader and suspicious turns that will trip you up. The characters are fun, refreshing and develop through witty dialog and entertaining activities. You never truly know who to trust.

The author writes with humor and clarity. The detail brings the reader right into the scene - so much so that you will want to scratch your head when Brant catches lice and even gasp when Della is caught around her middle. Though shrewish, Della's character is not overly done and I found her to be endearing not annoying. The author brings her story to life with captivating plausibility. I found it difficult to leave the castle at the end.

I loved the interaction between the two lovers. It's not easy to fall in love with the enemy, but Michelle Pillow made it feel believable.

I would definitely recommend this author to my friends.

This was like taming the shrew but lot more fun. I liked how the author developed the relationship that had to overcome tragedy and prejudice. A great read, definitely recommended.

I rather liked this book. It tells the tale of two people wanting love, but desperately fighting both themselves and each other in their quest. The book was well written, though I did find one error, but I don't believe it to be the author's, I think it is in the processing of the book.

I found myself laughing quite a bit and secretly hoping all would work out between these two, well-written, characters.

I did find I was rooting more for the 'Barbarian Viking', he was a very likeable character; though I have to say, I probably would have reacted the same way the 'Ice Princess' did in many aspects. Being able to cheer on two fun people made this a very, very good read. I look forward to reading more books by Michelle Pillow in the future.

Borrowed this book for my kindle on PRIME. OK.. good story, loved the characters. Got a little upset at the main male character because he ALWAYS took others words as truth, instead of his wife's. This part was the most EXASPERATING.. I wanted to throttle him myself! *Spoiler alert* but when his own men tie him up in the end to let his young wife tell her side of the issues, that was VERY VERY good scene. He was just as immature in his love for her as she was to show it to him. They both needed to learn to trust each other. AND... the read was a good ride. Not bad, not bad at all.

Michelle Pillow is one of the great writers of erotic fiction and she proves beautifully she can turn her pen to Historic Fiction as well. Well researched and thought out, Lord of Fire, Lady of Ice reignites my love of this genre. Lord Blackwell's desire to show Lady Della that while Vikings are fierce warriors they also are loyal and loving. Della proves to be the quintessential heroine in the novel that must learn to give and not just take in her coming relationship with Brant. I really want my own Lord Blackwell.

This book gets a 5 star review from me. Sure the heroine was exasperating at times but she was strong and had a backbone. The hero was truly wonderful with a few defects himself but still great. This books makes it on my top list along with Lord of a Thousand Nights and Lie Down in Roses there were just so many similarities with the heroes and heroines in those books that I just had to love this book.

Like the characters well enough, to read more.
However, I found a few typos and feel that several areas were just rewriting/repeating the same story in another chapter for bulking up the story. Would have liked more back story into the 'hero' of the book. More explanation into the reasoning for his internal distrust towards other characters.
Over all, Decent entertaining story line.
