This review is from: Lord of the Forest (Paperback)
Lord of the Forest is rapturously beautiful and a joy to read to my daughter. The story marches poetically towards its inevitable but delightful conclusion all set among some of the most inspired watercolors ever devoted to a children's book. The subject matter is crucial right now - there only some 4,000 tigers left in the wild and numbers are declining rapidly. Appreciation for wildlife, particularly this wildlife, is another gift from this wonderful book. Lord of the Forest belongs on every child's bookshelf.

When you're not sure whether you're looking at an art book or a children's book ... you're looking at a children's book illustrated by Jackie Morris. In this volume, the story is okay, but the compelling watercolor illustrations are memorable, even haunting.
