About the Author

JAMES HERRIOT (Dr. Alfred Wight) lived in Yorkshire, England, with his wife and family, where his son took over his veterinary practice. His international bestsellers include All Creatures Great and Small; All Things Bright and Beautiful; All Things Wise and Wonderful; The Lord God Made Them All; and Every Living Thing. He is also the author of numerous collections of short stories and a series of illustrated books for children.
CHRISTOPHER TIMOTHY starred as James Herriot in All Creatures Great and Small, the internationally renowned BBC television series based on Herriot’s work. A veteran of stage, screen and TV, Mr. Timothy is a winner of the prestigious Sir John Gielgud Scholarship and the Sir Laurence Olivier Award. James Harriot writes interesting and funny tales about his life as a vet. The reader, Christopher Timothy, played James Harriot on the series and is perfect for the role as the reader.

I ordered the audio version, which I really enjoyed listening to, especially with British (Yorkshire) accent of the actor. I have always enjoyed the James Herriot books, except for his free use of profanity.
Otherwise, it was very enjoyable listening.

If you like animals and enjoy humorous character portrayals, the writing of James Herriot is for you. The audio versions of The Lord God Made Them All these books are read by the actor who played James Herriot in the BBC TV Series "All Creatures Great and Small," Christopher Timothy. He makes the stories come alive. The stories themselves are family friendly, and most are sweet or funny. Only a few are sad. However, parents of young children be aware that expletives are common in these books and CDs. The writer has the characters talk in their accustomed way, and some characters use a bit of colorful language that parents may not want their children exposed to. Great stories. I have the entire collection in book and CD format too.
