Book Description

October 30, 2012 The London List
The brainchild of Evangeline Ramsey, the London List features the latest gossip as well as blind advertisements. Every London resident, from the lowliest kitchen maid to the most exalted duchess, looks forward to Tuesday morning, when the newspaper publishes and speculation rises. Baron Benton Gray is sick of finding his latest peccadilloes printed in the London List - and shocked to find his old love, Evangeline Ramsey, at the helm. He buys the newspaper from her ailing father with the intention of shutting it down, only to face uproar from its eager readers. Forced to enlist Evie's aid to re-start the newspaper, he finds that putting the paper to bed becomes an unexpected pleasure for them both...unexpected plot twists, humour, and plenty of "romangst."

More About the Author

Maggie Robinson is a former teacher, library clerk and mother of four who woke up in the middle of the night, absolutely compelled to create the perfect man and use as many adverbs as possible doing so. A transplanted New Yorker, she lives with her not-quite perfect husband in Maine, where the cold winters are ideal for staying inside and writing hot historical romances.

Released in November 2012: Lord Gray's List, the first of the London List Trilogy. Baron Benton Craig is tired of reading about his scandals in the newspaper, but he discovers the biggest scandal of all when he attempts to buy the paper and shut it down--his old flame Evangeline Ramsey, wearing trousers and posing as a man to get the all the dirt that's fit to print. Look for Captain Durant's Countess on February 21, 2013 and Lady Anne's Lover in August.

A new series, Ladies Unlaced, debuts with In the Arms of the Heiress in July 2013, followed by In the Heart of the Highlander in October.

The Courtesan Court series from Kensington Brava includes Mistress by Mistake (May 2010), Mistress by Midnight (January 2011), Mistress by Marriage (September 2011)and Master of Sin (April 2012).Lords of Passion(December 2010), an anthology with Virginia Henley and Kate Pearce, includes "Not Quite a Courtesan," a fun romp that also take place on Jane Street, the setting for the Courtesan Court books. "To Match a Thief" in the anthology Improper Gentlemen (August 2011)tells the tale of a most unlikely mistress and the man she masters.

Maggie's edgier alter ego Margaret Rowe's books are Tempting Eden from Berkley Heat (June 2010) and Any Wicked Thing (March 2011). Please visit the websites: http://www.maggierobinson.net and http://www.margaretrowe.net for excerpts, updates and contests!

Baron Benton (Ben) Gray and Evangeline (Evie) Ramsey have a past. It's a past so powerful that neither one can give it up. Evie was Ben's first love-a love he thought would end in marriage. Evie had other ideas. After 10 long years, Ben finds Evie as the editor of a paper that harasses him every Tuesday. The harassment stems from the paper's publication of his "immoral" exploits that he flaunts in front of all of London. Ben wants Evie to stop publishing such nonsense but she refuses. Ben buys the paper to stop the publication of her stories but ends up running the paper.

Evie loves to dress as a man. It gives her freedom to do her job as an editor. It doesn't hurt the development of their renewed friendship that Ben finds Evie's "man dress" as irresistible. Their relationship ignites only after a few meetings. How these two work through their problems is a joy to behold. Both Ben and Evie love to squabble with each other but can't seem to let the other go.

Maggie Robinson is one of my favorite authors. Any book with her name (or the name Margaret Rowe) is an automatic buy for me. Simply said she creates great romance. This one is light, joyful, and full of fun. It's a true treat for the holidays. I think Maggie Robinson is one few authors that can consistently build a solid story while focusing on only the two main characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars The One Wearing the Pants Makes the Rules! October 30, 2012
Format:Paperback
Maggie Robinson's newest release "Lord Gray's List" it the first installment in her new List series. Set in 1820 London, Maggie pens a highly entertaining tale with characters that promise to keep you amused throughout! Baron Benton Alexander Dunbarton Gray is a Scottish born Lord, but upon his father's early demise, had grown up in London with his English mother rather than in the crumbling old Castle Gray, his heritage, a circumstance he is grateful for daily. However, being a titled man of substance, as of late he is not feeling very grateful to be among those privileged to do as they please. For Benton Gray has more often then not lately found himself the subject of the locally published and in his mind (scandalous publication), known by all as The London List. The highly anticipated arrival of each Tuesday morning's edition it seems, is lucky enough to find itself in the hands of many a member of the Ton or servant alike. To Ben's chagrin, he discovers his household alone supports seven subscriptions, his mother the paper's biggest champion. The latest copy has Ben in an uproar as once again splashed across the headline is his latest romantic encounter. The constant expunging of his character seems to carry the ring of personal vendetta. Determined to bring an end the attention so exclusively given him, Ben sets out to seek the one responsible. Little does Ben know he is in for a battle the likes of which compare to something found within the confines of Gentleman Jackson's; Evangeline Ramsay.

3.0 out of 5 stars Light Read-Sassy Characters November 18, 2012
Format:Paperback
Evie Ramsay has lived her entire life either being really poor or living an okay life because of her father's gambling problem. Now her father has developed dementia and all that is left is a printer's shop that was won by her father. Still spurned by how things were left with Benton Gray, Evie decides to pose as a man and develops a gossip rag call The London List. Now all of Ben's salacious exploits are splatter across the pages. Ben decides to stop this from happening anymore and purchases the paper. To his dismay he finds out that 1. Evie is the one doing this and 2. that London is not happy that he is shutting the paper down. One of its biggest supporter is his own mother!

Now Evie and Ben must bind together and make this paper work. Evie hates that she has to be near Ben but that doesn't stop her from using her feminine ways to try to get him to leave the paper in her capable hands. Evie was Ben's first love and obviously that is not forgotten. He plans to make sure that they work extremely close together.

The reader never really knows why Evie hates/loves Ben the way she does and Ben apparently doesn't either. This is one part of the story that was confusing. It was never made clear were the hate comes from.

This was an enjoyable read and is like a historic version of what Gossip Girl would have been like during this time. This is a good light read with some sassy characters and steamy love scenes.
