Book Description

November 25, 2003
As steamy as the hot, thick, sticky heat of Louisiana, this page-turner will keep readers in suspense, steamed, wondering what happens next, as the author spins a tale of love, loss, superstition, pain, heartache, and faith in God in the Louisiana heat. God and the power of prayer versus superstitions of the South when a woman’s husband mysteriously disappears in the Manchac Swamp. Through belief in making your own luck with hard work and the power of prayer and God’s help, this powerful, moving story takes readers from the celebration of the Strawberry Festival in Ponchatoula, Louisiana—known as the Strawberry Capital of the World and America’s Antique City, famous for its annual April Strawberry Festival, which is second only to Mardi Gras in New Orleans—to the Manchac Swamps.

Reviewer Kathy Boswell says, "Very good! She never gives up hope that Andy will return to her someday. She puts it all in God's hands like she'd done every crisis in her life. She knows He will take care of this for her."

This is one of the very first reviews I received. Below is a second review. These reviews were done before the book became published.

"Strong, believable characters, a fine-spun tale of the South and its superstitions. Author does a fine job of making readers care about the characters. Great tale of love and loss, as well as faith. Romance and mystery with suspense at the same time. So, if you're a fan of either, then this book is for you," says Mona Lisa Heider from Louisiana.
